gnasher16 30,121
At the risk of having the urine taken out of me i was wondering what any of you who have experience in this subject think of the idea of falconry courses for an absolute beginner.....are they really necessary ?....i dont know anyone with a bird so cant get any hands on experience......is learning and reading as much as possible over the next few months and then buying equipment and a beginners type of bird and chancing my arm with it a sensible option ?...any opinions would be appreciated. Harris Will 3
Hi mate, the way i learnt was to read as much as i could first. This will help with the basics! In my opinion, I think you need to find someone local to you as a mentor if you can. These forums didn't exist several years ago when i first started so my mentor was the only person i could as stuff! These forums will help begginers like yourself a lot though.... But there is nothing quite learning the ropes as you go on with your own bird! All the best. Will Quote Link to post
rickardo 76
i never did ant courses not because i didnt want to cause of the cost £700 for 5days lantra? it would be a good idea if you could join a club near you there must be one , that way you can see a number of different birds work this will help you decide also there will be someone you could contact if needed.. there is so much involved in the welfare and training of your bird as im still learning a great deal also get your self a good book to read, and the internet is full useful information ... good luck with it anyway Quote Link to post
