andyfr1968 772
I was being facetious, because I didn't get fatigued at all. It depends how you carry it in the crook I supose - balanced and cradled like a baby the weight is actually close to the base of the levers, so you get very little muscle fatigue and the muscles you use to carry are different to the ones used to support the rifle when shooting. How so are different muscles used to carry a rifle than the ones in your arms that you need to shoot the thing with? We all have different levels of fitness and strength and endurance. Some folks will struggle to carry ten pounds of kit free hand for a hundred yards while some of us could carry it all day and night. I use a properly fitted sling on all of my guns, always have and I am also lucky enough to be able to carry my kit around all day long without if I needed to but I don't see why I should need to stress my body any more than necessary before taking the shot. I'm not having a go, just saying. 1 Quote Link to post
dogvixen01 34
from personal experience i have had more trouble with the sling studs in the stock coming out than a strap failing.as these studs are only screwed in ( would be a better idea imho to be bolted right through the stock in the front and some sort of bonded resin in the rear stud to stop it spinning round and falling out ) there are some situations where the actual sling is useful when crossing fences, streams ,boggy ground ,rocks etc where the sling has enabled me to access better and safer as you have 2 free arms for stability.if your hands are full and you slip you cant stop yourself falling. pros and cons for nearly everything. leaky5 2
Thinking of getting a new sling for my r10 what slings do you lads use? Atb Froudy Here is one of mine on an R10. The fixed length ones have 4 lengths of cord running through them, that gives in excess of 2000lbs breaking strain and you have to unscrew (By finger) and twist the swivels so they should not be able to come undone easliy. There are no hard parts to touch your rifle, so should not be able to damage the rifle or make any sound by banging into it. Richard Edited January 4, 2013 by leaky5 Quote Link to post

leaky5 2
Foudy Thanks for the interest, drop me a PM if you do want to proceed. At the moment I have 1 set of swivels in stock and 1 length of black cord. Cord is taking about 2 days to get to me by post at the moment, but I have interest from other people for slings and belts, so could always make a trip down to my supplier. I will also order another coulpe of pairs of swivels today, they take about 10 days to get in. Regards Richard Quote Link to post
