pip1968 2,490 Posted January 2, 2013 Report Share Posted January 2, 2013 i look on here most days and see topics of peoples catches with rabbits which is fine by me but when i was a lad i hardly worked my ferrets on rabbits it was mainly rats and what good sport it was so just wondering does anyone use there ferrets to bolt rats to the dogs Quote Link to post

Now though, I wouldnt want my ferrets getting damaged or jacking. Its very tempting though, especially with the bunnys thin on the ground. Dont own any ferrets small enough though. Quote Link to post

Dont own any ferrets small enough though. ye i know what you mean.had some really nasty injuries back then but still done it but the ferrets get used to working them,we used to do river banks at the side of a tip and it was really fast action with the dogs and the guns shooting them in the water Quote Link to post

How we didnt get lepto I`ll never know. there used to be about 8 of us me and my mate were the kids the rest were adults they only used us for the ferrets looking back now but we didnt care we were glad of the sport,they used to bring a canoe for the rats and a landing net it was hillirious when they nearly tipped up with rats in the water id love a day out like that again but memoiries will have to do Quote Link to post

Couple of lurchers a trustworthy terrier and the good old .410 for them ones that run up into the hedges. I dont like using a smoker when im just out for a mooch. Rather use the ferrets and spades.
