villaman 9,983
Hi I am after a new scope for my new r10 vc .177. I have a Hawke Panorama on the HW100KT .22 , Pulsar N550 on the ultra m/s regged .177 and at the moment a Hawke night eye sr6 on the R10 .177 . What are the advantages on the FFP scopes if any or is there a better scope to go for or should i keep the night eye ? Quote Link to post
tegater 789
For hold offs ffp scopes are better as the reticle stays constant in relationship to the image at all magnifications. Not sure what air rifle scopes are ffp, but there maybe some. Again with a moving target, your leads remain the same, no matter on what magnification. I only have experience of rifle scopes at top end of market with ffp reticle. Quote Link to post
AR177 588
The Falcon menace series are FFP - I have one a 5.5-25 x 50 & Daz 7 has them on most of his rifles Really nice, ultra fine reticles and supposedly the aim off is the same at all mags ie 1 mil dot on x5 is still 1 mil dot at x25 (so the handbook says) because its on the first focal plane and dosnt change - compared to other scopes where they are only mil dot at x10 etc. I havent really tested mine out too throughly yet but they are nice scopes Very large though Oh and i forgot to add that mine has huge eye relief! like 3.6inch or something crazy like that!! so I have had to get reach mounts, ill give it a go once they are fitted but it is a very nice scope ATB Adam 1 Quote Link to post

If it is a ffp scope, there should be no reason it won't be true at all magnifications, as the reticle and image get magnified together. Quote Link to post

Yeah they are perfectly fine for Rimfire / Centre Fire, I would even say they are a bit OTT for Air Rifles perhaps a 4-16x44 would be better for air rifles Once my mounts come through the post ill be testing it on my rimmy more, was a little awkward before as I didnt have enough eye relief with the standard mounts ontop of the split CZ rail. Yeah thats what i was trying to say its true mil dot through all magnifications, unlike many hawke and others that are only mil dot on x10 The reticle is very very thin which I love Only issue i have is that the Turrets on mine are not locking so they can get nocked, but they do reset so if you zero then reset to '0' on the scope you can easily check to see if its been nocked off ATB Adam Quote Link to post

Love S & B ffp scopes, just a shame more manufacturers don't make them in the cheaper price brackets. Quote Link to post
Daz 7 563
I've Got 3 FFP Scopes , 1. Falcon Menace FFP 4 - 14 x 44 EMD Reticle, 2. Falcon Menace FFP 5.5 - 25 x 50 B20 ir Reticle, 3. Barska Tactical FFP 6 - 20 x 50 Mildot ir Reticle, Absolutely Love them, As long as You zero on Full Mag x at Your chosen zero range then the Mildots will be the same throughout the Mag x range. My Favourites at the Moment is the Barska and the B20 Falcon, both with fine reticles but the Barska is lighter, As that's the only problem with the Falcons is their weight because their built to be used by Centre fire and sniper rifles . atvb Daz 7. AR177 588
I think they are ideal HFT scopes for Air rifles & for the prescision shooter, but a little hefty for carrying around for the general shooter What says you Daz? I might have to get weaver fittings so i can switch it between my rimmy and my springer for the comp ATB Adam 1 Quote Link to post

I have read mixed reviews on the Barska daz, in terms of build quality, are you happy with yours? On spec they look reasonable scopes. Quote Link to post
Daz 7 563
My Barska Tactical is Spot on, don't know about the rest of the Range but Mine is superb, Was told about them by an Ex Army Sniper on the Rapid Forum and the two makes he goes for are the Falcons and Barska especially for Price wnen compared to the Bushnell Tactical FFP at nearly a Grand , Got My Barska for £135 off evil bay has the lad who sold it on there bought a new centre fire rifle with it attached but he all ready had a scope costing over a grand to put on it atvb Daz 7 Quote Link to post

Had hands on a brand new Bushnell tactical the other day, could have had it for roughly half price, but don't have the reddies! Quote Link to post
Daz 7 563
would love a Bushy tactical FFP but price being the factor also for the price of the Falcons and Barska's they have got to be the Best FFP scopes for their price. Looked at the lightstream FFP but at £500 and the front focus ring also put me off as i like side focus now. atvb Daz 7. 1 Quote Link to post
gurtwurz 792
I'm using a lightstream 4.5-14x44 ffp scope on my ' and its brilliant, amazing quality sight picture in low light, and adjustable to 1/8" instead of 1/4". I was gonna use on the pro sport for hft but its made the into the perfect hunting rifle for me. The only downside is the cost of them at £450 new, but the money has definitely gone into the lenses. Cheers, wurz Quote Link to post
dtw 42
falcon menace 5.5 x 25 x50 B20 ret on my hw100, love the scope and ret. I tend to alter magnification on different areas of my permision due to differing light quality (and my old eyes) only have one set of holdover points to remember due to ffp. As already said they are quite heavy. Quote Link to post
