Early young

Recommended Posts

Wasn't sure where to put this , so I hope it's ok here ! Was out this morning in a wood chopping logs with a mate , long story short out off a Tree fell a Young Collared Dove . . . We where both shocked , the nest was out off sight too high up so I climbed as far as I could made a Nest off Sorts in a fork using twigs and lined it with foliage and after 10 mins an Adult was flyin in too the young one , its tail feathers where had not developed . Those twitchers in the know is this unusual cause me and my mate both think its Very Strange though not sure , thanks .

Go back and tie its legs together through the nest lo

they used to do that to rook chicks in the nest when the wars was on and food was a bit short, the parents would keep feeding the chicks and fatten them up for them.they then sent young lads up with a sack to collect them.i think thats were the song came from 4 and 20 blackbirds baked in a pie came from but could be wrong
