DOG BAN IN DUBLIN

Recommended Posts

Council introduces 'dangerous dog' ban

Dublin City Council is to introduce a ban on eleven breeds of dog from properties including houses, flats and estates, with immediate effect.

The breeds are: English Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, Rottweiler, German Shepherd (Alsatian), Doberman, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Japanese Akita, Bull Mastiff, Japanese Tosa and Bandog. Cross-breeds of these dogs or crosses of these dogs with any other breed are also banned.

Owners will be given the opportunity to rehouse the dogs but if alternative accommodation cannot be found for they will be destroyed.

The council has taken the step to remove all "dangerous breeds" due to the increasing numbers of complaints from tenants and because of the legal implications associated with an attack taking place on one of its properties.

The ban initially applies to council housing and all public areas within council estates.

so lets have this right....they are going to sift through every pet dog owned by council tennants to remove breeds that are not even on any official government dangerous dogs lists ???...what about crosses of such dogs ?? a staff x alsatian for example...or in fact a cross containing any of these breeds...there will be no f*****g dogs left in dublin !

think there must be more to it than that,im sure they wouldnt put themself in such an impossible position open to any half sensible brief being able to rip them to shreds in court....councils dont make laws governments do....destroying a healthy dog that is not on an official goverment banned breeds list is cruelty if i remember right whether joe bloggs does it or the local council.

3 weeks ago, a alsation was seazed from a house, 2 doors down from me, it was heart breaking to see the kids, as they were very upset  the dog, which was a well looked after and excersised pet, was distroyed that evening. :icon_eek:
