secretagentmole 1,701
Don't be too afraid of the HW80 mind. I've had a HW95 and found it very hold fussy, good for teaching consistent technique but made for some frustrating misses. A good friend recently bought a HW80 .22 with scope for £300 and it has impressed me no end. Just enough extra weight to cancel out the 'wavy' tendancy of the 95 and his was super smooth (most likely tuned as most out of the box HW's these days are rough and twangy in my experience). Underlever? TX200 of course. Not tried a HW35 but they have a longstanding and fearsome reputation. Good luck, if you're like me then this is the beginning of a severe and bankrupting addiction that'll see you trading your way through gun after gun as you fulfill the need to try em all! Its great! What do you mean hold fussy? Mary had one in .177 and it was the least hold fussy springer I have ever encountered and hers was straight out of the box too! Artilery hold it and it puts pellets in the same spot time after time! The 95 is low recoiling and medium weight, a great rifle, especially in carbine form! Cannot comment on the .22 as that is a touch that and you are dead, it is my rifle sort of gun.... Edited December 31, 2012 by secretagentmole 1 Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
Agreed moley, miles had a Frankenstein 95 so might be why he encountered problems. Mine was well sweet! Best break barrel I've ever owned or fired. ;-) 1 Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Hey there is a bargain HW80 to be had, not sure bout the seller though :whistling: (Only joking Marksman is one of the safest sellers on here)! http://www.thehuntin...get-first-dibs/ Buy this gun, it has been in the hands of an air gun enthusiast who KNOWS what he is doing! secretagentmole 1,701
Agreed moley, miles had a Frankenstein 95 so might be why he encountered problems. Mine was well sweet! Best break barrel I've ever owned or fired. ;-) If he had a Frankenrifle there is no need for him to come on claiming they are hold fussy! They are not! I do not want someone dissuaded from buying what is probably one of the best breakbarrels out there. I am a well known Hatsan fan but the HW95 did blow my socks off. Leagues ahead they are! 2 Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
Probably wasnt the right rifle for him, think he was claiming it was to heavy for him but that's more to do with the noodle arms. I put 30 .22 h&n FTT through a ragged one hole group easily covered by a 5p coming at 30 yards with mine, however mine was tuned but have heard others say that's easily achievable out the box. Think the op should seriously consider the 95. Quote Link to post

Not quite sure what Mawders meant. It was pure weihrauch. Nonetheless there was something about what was, and is, that undeniably excellent rifle, or in fact me, which didn't seem to gel. zini 1,939
Dont be too hard on Miles lads. Some people just prefer a heavier rifle for their style of shooting. I do believe a heavier springer is easier to keep on aim longer. I'm a huge fan of the HW95K in its light / medium weight form as well as the BSA Ultra in its light form and the HW97KT / Pro Sport in their heavy forms. For my own personal choice of favorite springers I would say: Out the box heavy weight springer, without a single doubt = Air Arms Pro Sport, nothing i have ever shot out the box matches it. I liked it even more than the TX200HC. Tuned heavy weight springer = HW97KT Light / Medium weight springer = HW95K Si. Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
Agreed, that's what I meant about not being the right rifle for him. I do prefer a bit of weight in a rifle though which is probably why I loved my Superten BBK so much when I was a pcp shooter, and probably why if I did go back to pcp I would buy a HW100. Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
i love both my hw97kt and my hw95k and seriously couldnt choose between them. both are as good as eachother, just slightly different im thinking of getting a hw77 to practice some shooting with open sights, i was never a good shot when i last used open sights about 12-15 years ago lol so it would be nice to see how i get on with them these days Quote Link to post
gurtwurz 792
I think that whatever weight suits you is the only deciding factor in what weihrauch break barrel you end up with since theyre equally accurate when married to the right pellets. I don't get on with lighter rifles so its the for me (and thanks to andy's sterling work its more accurate than my pro sport), but if you like a lighter gun then the 95 is a fantastic springer. Personally I'd go for a 35 because of the barrel lock but it really is horses for courses at the end of the day. Cheers, wurz Quote Link to post
gurtwurz 792
Forgot about your full length HW80 Wurz, boy she was lurverly. You should try it now its really run in and I've lost the silencer, smooth as silk and fiendishly accurate. We'll have to meet up in the summer again miles mate and you can give it another go. Cheers, wurz Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
But..you know what, I think the HW80 is the king of the Weihrauch Break barrel stable. If you can get one of the traditional ones with open sights, you have an awesome do-anything rifle for life. Especially if you want to go FAC in the future. I really am at a loss to understand this reputation it has for weight. I do not find it a heavy rifle in the least. Give this one a serious consideration Daniel! The one Webster was selling looks to be a very nice and tidy buy here! Simon. Edited December 31, 2012 by pianoman Quote Link to post
gurtwurz 792
I know exactly what youre saying simon, and can't disagree at all. The really does rule the roost, and since I should be president of club noodle arms you've think I'd get on with the lighter guns, but the shades it over just about every other air rifle I've shot. That one darryl's flogging is a STEAL!!! 1 Quote Link to post
milegajo 595
Thanks Si, and I think you've hit the nail on the head. As pianoman and wurz have also said, the is not as hefty as perhaps people say. For me, the niggle I experienced with the mighty 95 doesn't seem to be present with the . All personal and down to taste it would appear. Wurz, that's one helluva claim you make regarding the prosport vs . I'm gunna have to call you up on it next time we cross paths! Quote Link to post
