The mini spades are good enough for shallow stuff, and light, the bulldog rabbiting spades are also good for the shallow stuff, ideal for knocking little holes in to maybee 2 foot deep.

For the same weight and size as a bulldog rabbiting spade, you can take a real spade around with you though, a decent chopped roundmouth, with enough angle on the head to lift out the loose to maybee 4ft down without having to take out a large hole, just a small round shaft, enough to get your arm, head and shoulders down to draw the rabbit and ferret.
