Just wondered if any of you use these micro shovels and if they any good as shovels go as thinking of getting one for my lad thanks

aye i have the same, cant go wrong for the price, and easy carried. a good wee spade. (always take a big spade and leave it in the car just in case though)

iv got one its a great little thing strong and lightweight great, i got mine from a BnQ i think, i used to use a fold up army spade but they kept braking, there great for sandy ground

Yup gonna buy one from screw fix he has a big kinda grave digging shovel he takes aswell but its a bit big in my opinion bet he loves it,i have a bulldog steel grafting shovel very hand kit lasted me well 24 pound from fleabay.

I also bought him a folding saw aswell as them roots can be a pain in the arse he swears he wont need it but we will see

i know the wee spades ar handy, but i will stick with my Bulldog rabbiting spade, must be over 30 years old, did a lot of work. and never needed to replace anything.

The mini spades are good enough for shallow stuff, and light, the bulldog rabbiting spades are also good for the shallow stuff, ideal for knocking little holes in to maybee 2 foot deep.

For the same weight and size as a bulldog rabbiting spade, you can take a real spade around with you though, a decent chopped roundmouth, with enough angle on the head to lift out the loose to maybee 4ft down without having to take out a large hole, just a small round shaft, enough to get your arm, head and shoulders down to draw the rabbit and ferret.
