USING A BARKING COLLOR ON YOUR LURCHER

Recommended Posts

WAS TALKING TO SOME AND WE WER TALKING ABOUT YIPPING IN SOME DOGS SO WOULD IT WORK TO CONTROL THE YIPPING IN THE DOG WHILE RUNNING SOME GAME OR WOULD IT HAVE AN EFFECT THAT WHILE RUNNING AND BARKING IT GETS A SHOCK AND GOES GREEN FROM IT AND NOT WANTING TO RUN ?

fay i would never ever use one it could cause a serious injury if shocked while on a run or stop it running all together for me its a no no much better to get a dog fit and given easy runs i would rather have a dog yipp and still catch than one that was running half hearted expecting a shock

I would never entertain it ! It would definitely put them off ! I had a bitch that hit an electric fence and took forever to get her right again ! I know lads that use electric collars to train labs and was told how good it has an effect on stock breaking ! If it does that then I'm sure it would do the same on game ! In my opinion anyway

E collars are an Exellent training tool BUT iv not met anyone in the UK that can use one well...look up KNPV on YouTube its amazing the results they get..they will definatly cause. You more problems than they fix..best left to the Europeans there 20 yrs ahead of us in dog training......

dont be silly!

put dog to pet home and start again, once a yapper always a yapper

I have to disagree. I know of a dog that yapped because it was holding an injury that the owner didn't know about. and once a vet checked it over properly and found the problem. the dog never yapped again.

I would go with this - is the dog trying to tell you something, or is it a pup which just gets excited?

I also noticed Woz saying that Europeans are way ahead of us in dog-training?

I don't feel knowledgable enough to argue with this, but I can't think it's right.

I've seen excellent sheepdogs, and gundogs who did everything required. Hell, in the UK we even teach dogs to dance! :whistling:

I've heard of a few cases where an e-collar has been used to train dogs. In the cases I know of personally, it turned out that in each case the owner had put in very little time actually training the dog to reward.

Iv spent the last three years full time learning how to train service and protection dogs..the Europeans are years ahead of us in there training techniques..they are its a fact ..I didn't like the thought of it myself...
