morton 5,368
Roadwork, roadwork, roadwork and decent jock, when the dogs conditioned through roadwork then its time to let it run and finish off the fitness in the field,no easy options,no quick fix,if you want to do right by the mutt don,t cut corners. 1 Quote Link to post
Hamish.J.Cronan 13
For endurance athletes the base foundation seems to be low intensity but a lot of it. I started running with the dog on a longish lead - good for both of us. Quote Link to post
iceman001979 1,316
You can do all the road work and free runing you want but a dog needs runs (hunted).More hunting a dog gets runs the fitter it will be 1 Quote Link to post
Daniel Baker 7
yes agree you cant beat getting them out on the lamp and running them fit,you will notice a difference after only 3 or 4 outings atb 1 Quote Link to post
Flame tails 12
I'm with Morton believe you should condition a dog then finish off in field Quote Link to post
lurcher2020 285
A lot of rabbit work short fast bursts builds stamina not heavy duty running for ages Quote Link to post

brierley4life 0
Get yourself a mountain bike or motor bike for the field and put the miles in. And good snap. Like an athlete really. Carbs and protein for there diet, runn um one day and rest/walk um the next. If you really want to go to town, get um a weighted coat, it'll add resistance and build mussel faster. But these are only my thoughts. But that's only half the battle really. My two dogs are pets, but as fit as any dog as I know, will run 10 muiles at 12mph+ all day every day. But cann't catch a thing So I've bought a new pup and I'll give her ago. Hopefully she has some fire in her belly Quote Link to post
