netting the holes

When netting up the holes if u havent got enough nets what holes are best to net up? The small bolt holes or the bigger entrance holes?

you can be sure the one you dont net they will bolt from. i cover what i can then block up the rest. works for me

Yeh net the bolt holes pluses the likly looking good holes that are well trod,,,, or of course if you have holes on bankingings net the top holes,, another method is net the outer holes on both sides of the warren,, leaving the middle open.

 

Or if your doing hedgerows,,, there's nearly always a run in the middle of the hedge , going to warrens either side, you can just put a net on these runs at either end of a warren,,

Get some more nets, or a dog and or maybe a longnet? By the time you have stomped all over the warren blocking holes with bricks, logs and whatever else you can find, the rabbit will know your well and truely waiting outside and you might be hard pushed to get them to bolt, especially if its a deep warren. Besides, no matter how many nets you lay, you`ll always miss one, and like has been said, thats usually where they bolt from.

I think its very kind of the rabbits to let you know you missed a hole. You dont miss it a second time...

you could always get hold of a few stop nets, they'll do the work of 50 purse nets if positioned correctly

I net up round the outside of the burrow hopping they hole hop and i catch them on the outskirts , but you always have the gamebag ,hat,jacket etc to block holes and them you only have to lift them out to get at a rabbit

you seem a keen lad. i have given all my spare nets away but i have 4 4ft nylon poke nets you can have.pegs either end. good for big holes or at the bases of trees etc. pm your details and i will send them on.
