as a few of you will be aware i have just lost a little patterdale pup to this condition he had just left his mum.

Please be aware of the condition and the symptoms, its a horrendous illness which causes alot of pain and suffering but....... if caught early can be treated successfully my pup wasnt so lucky. Please just take 5 minutes to make yourself aware of it and learn how to recognize it.

atb guys

I have a 3 year old lurcher out of our own bitch, he was 1 of a litter of 8 & had strangles at about 5 wks of age. All the other pups were fine but he couldn't have his jabs or go out until he was 6 months of age because strangles affects the immune system. He never caught up with the other pups in size & still occasionally suffers with runny eyes & the hair never grew back around his nose. He is now out working but it has taken him a lot longer to get to this stage than any of the other pups.

I had never heard of it until this morning. I think people should be aware because it causes so much pain and suffering as you said it affects the rest of the dogs life. if I'd have known maybe my post would be a little cheery. I know now but it's been a hard lesson ill be more thorough when picking a pup next time.

A c**ts trick... The breeder should refund your money, as for the pup i know you got attached to it but it is probably just as well it did die as it would likely never be healthy... If it was a pet thats one thing but it would quite likely be useless as a worker.

i wish you all the best with your next pup.
