stewie 3,387
" I'd love to score the goal that sends them down".......Frank can go and f**k himself, just my opinion !! I never realised he said that wilf, even you wouldn't say that lol I dont blame him for saying that he was treated appallingly by the club as were his whole family...............its a subject that divides a lot of fans.....theres a lot of boo boys who detest him and wouldnt have him back........me id have him back tomorrow 10 - 15 goals a year from midfield.....you bet id have him back. When Frank was a 17 year old he went through a bad spell of form, some fans said he was only in the team because Harry was manager.......he then broke his leg in a game and a certain few of our fans cheered.......he never forgave that hence his comment about scoring the goal that relegated us. I never boo ex players ....good players will want to move on to bigger clubs i dont have a problem with that.........some leave on great terms and recieve a great welcome when they come back Tevez/Joe Cole etc...............some leave on bad terms and get hatred Lampard/Ince etc..................same at any club we,re no different........but personally i,ll never boo a player raised in this area and id welcome Frank Lampard back with open arms...........but he wont come anyway so neither here nor there really Tbf I only saw it on teletext so hardly a world exclusive.... some good points there tho mate but I never knew ince was hated there what's the story with him?? I think you might get some surprises in this window as big Sam can attract decent players that, with no disrespect, could possibly play for top teams...the likes of anelka and okakcha (spelling) to name a couple....loic remy is another name mentioned alot with west ham and while France ain't the strongest league he is doing well over there....I'd have him at the albion anyway...... gnasher16 30,220
If your going to leave to further your career then fair enough, you know you will get some nasty stick from certain groups of supporters but there's a way you conduct yourself. That club gave him his platform as it has many other top players, he may not have got the chance to play for the Chelsea's of this world without that club, a club paid for by the fans, money that helped him take his talent and ability and get where he is.......to put the medals on his wall. No matter what a certain section of fans say or do, you don't kick the many good fans ( like yourself Gnash) in the teeth like that, it just ain't done. As I said, just my opinion. You speak for a lot of people Wilf, you know yourself its an opinion that divides a lot fans......i have friends who think the same as you i just cant agree with it though.......loyalty is something fans have and players dont we just have to accept that......a spotty teenager working for Asda doesnt have a lifelong loyalty to the store just because they brought him through the door....if Tescos can offer him a better career i wouldnt hold a grudge. As regards how he conducts himself i think Frank is the perfect gentleman................in a competetive arena its hard to be nice all the time and what he recieved that day made when he broke his leg made me ashamed .......and its not often i go against my own. This is why i always try to stick to judging a player for what he does on the pitch it can often cloud your judgement otherwise............could you honestly say Wilf forgetting all that stuff, that Lampard wouldnt add a lot to this team at the moment be it on the pitch or in the dressing room/training ground ?

gnasher16 30,220
local only support my arse Affiliated Supporters Clubs | Affiliated Supporters Groups | International Supporters | Members | West Ham United same with all prem teams We,re not talking about fan clubs we,re talking about supporters inside a football ground................... i say again,i rarely see or hear supporters of this club inside football grounds who dont have a connection with the area.......what am i telling lies ?? Ive been in Hammers bars on holiday in plenty of different places......Tenerife Hammers is a huge following for one.................Chelsea have a massive following in Cyprus....................but thats just what it is " a following "..........................not regular folk who do the motorways every saturday supporting their club. Apparently Celtic have one of the biggest followings in world football...............but on a saturday aftenoon i bet my bollocks the huge majority in the ground have Glasgow accents Edited January 2, 2013 by gnasher16
troter58 1,711
so what your saying is that every one in your ground on a match day is a cockney not having that mate but if you care to believe that so be it. atb

Its not a massive issue mate dont get carried away ......for me a football club represents the area its from Hull represent Hull.......Cardiff represent Cardiff .....Charlton represent Charlton etc etc etc...............i dont understand why a Brummie would want to be represented by a London club or a Londoner represented by a Geordie club...............and on and on...................but its not a huge problem merely a talking point Edited January 2, 2013 by gnasher16
tandors 888
gnash if you was new to going to football now as a teenager do you still think you would have the same passion for it all. no swaying terrace no unreserved seating all seater stadiums etc. its no wonder people leach onto big clubs shown on tv its a dear do football for what it is and id say plastic fans make up huge percrntages of most clubs fan bases of most clubs with the better clubs getting more plastics. theres not much loyalty in most things. theres no point keeping on at people supporting successful teams they have no affiliation with because they just dont get it and never will. you cant educate pork as they say lol.

gonetoearth 5,144
No one is slagging any one from any were following a big or famous club in the prem we live in the age of sky its brought football to the world as never before BUT. The ground support at certain clubs is still local well comutable local i can name people at the match that i dont know out side of football they know me from football. Genorations sit in the same seats stood their as. Kids and sit round about the same place , the away crowd is differant. Again never see them at home games but know there there lurcher keeps going on about the mighty reds etc etc good on him would he support them if they were sheff wed. , southhamton , leeds , the baggies nope. Just the glory attracted him not his heart or soul or the connection with the area or club. Carry on being a sky red lurch aint no problem. I was born a evertonion. And will die one every one knows it dont wear colours or have a tattoe. Every one knows when your a blue. The lack of a smile the grumpy reply but go back for more till the day that i die we have been at the bottom more often than not been knocked out of trophys ive never forgot. But the away train to. London is allways full Its not about the wining its all about the pride 1878 and the great cattrick side its all about the history and all the days gone by the old worn out staduim and the st end and its cry. "OH AD RARTHER BE A PAKI THAN A RED ". Lol Edited January 2, 2013 by gonetoearth

No doubt about it mate, he would be a great signing for a club like us......as I have said before, quality is always quality. But, if we have to give someone their last few years retirement money then let it be someone who ( never mind what went on behind the scenes or with a section of fans) appreciates our club and the fans......no a bloke who has publicly stated that he would want to break the heart of fans who pay their hard earned to follow their club ( a club that the player in question has history with and which fostered his talent and put clothes on his back when he was a kid) Players come and go, supporters stay for ever.....they don't get to go to a better club, you don't have a choice, it's your club thick and thin ! We will still be there wether we sign him or not.

Its a good point mate and your probably right.........as embarrassing as it is now i look back at the old days and it didnt matter much that this area didnt have great teams on the pitch between West Ham and Millwall we had respect nationwide for off the pitch activities......and that was so exciting the whole culture of football was fun and exciting back then........................today i guess its pure loyalty to the club and the manor for me.......after all theres not much to shout about on the pitch and im too old to be getting ironed out every other week ........................so yes your right i very much doubt the passion would be as intense........that said though i do still see a lot of youngsters walking through the gates with that glint in the eye i once had................so there must still be passion there but like you say football is a completely different experience today. Just to emphasise my point Wilf of how badly we treated the Lampard clan.......Harry as well...........have a little listen to this i used to go to these q & a meetings we all think we know better than our manager.........but how right was he.........no different to any other fans i guess we all think we know whats best for our club.......................if we knew then what we know now we would of treated this family with the respect they deserved.........( only my opinion of course....and i understand your feelings also )
