prey drive ina dog

in your opinons wat is the best way to bring out that drive in a dog or should it come naturaly when the dog gets older lets say my new bitch is coming on well but when she sees a rabbit she wont go for it sometimes unless im up close to it then it bolts shes after it i was tinkn it wasnt that much of a problem considering she cant b stupid to run down a distance after a rabbit she nos she wont catch she has some brainse there but what do use recken in your opions about this tanxs

shes never seen a rabbit till i got her she hadnt even a name when i got her so to get all that into a dog in 2 months is very good i tink i wouldnt say shes green just needs a lot more brining on tanxs for the advice tho but its not as if im over doing it im bring here out some days and shes doing well but that lack of drive if u get me im happy with here but wasnt sure if it was someting to worry about as wat i sated about here since i got her cheers

think shes usein her brain not running rabbits that it wont cant.mine wil not run them at distance if there near hedge or cover at 1 time he would but not now.if they out in middle of field then thats a different story.

what cross is the dog ?

it might be a collie cross ive seen dogs with collie in them not run a rabbit on a hedge and stand there looking because he thinks he hasnt got a chance

was thinking the same pip :thumbs:

northernlite me mates dog would do this and it used to piss him off i think they just get to clever for there own good after running a few along an hedge

shes an out an out mongrel i put a pic up on here to see what use tink she look like a whippet collie bull hound the chap i got her off said she has a bit of everyting in her her convidence is good she works well with another dog she will run them at a distance but not really on her own she will sometimes if u get me and your riht its really when there out a bit from the ditch she will run a bit and stop she nose shes waisting her time i tink im determent not to slip her on anyting at a distance till she starts spotting and when i gt up on them close is when i will only slip
