Christamas ferreting

Had a day out yesterday with vin, and Nobby ,, did a banking with a bit of undergrowth on it, doing small sets for small numbers,, butt it was relatively quik and painless with most bolting , and the digs being relatively easy,, although vin had a stinker,,, wich I left him to it,,,lol

 

Nobby had out with him two of the biggest ferrets I have ever seen, they realy are two fecking monsters, I ment to get some pics of them, but I will next week. They worked well and of course when they connected, it was good night vienna .

 

The rain held off for the most part, just a little drizzle late on, wich made a change, the dogs flushed a few in the undergrowth and cought one or two,,we only missed one bolt all day , wich slipped the net, and the dog was on the other side of a wall, and 5 feet lower , one of those little sets that go up through the roots of a big old oak in the middle of a stone wall, the tunnels have gone almost straight up.

 

All in all a nice day to be out,, especially as I've done next to nothing for a month, just odds and sods locally, we got back to motor with a healthy 29 rabbits although we did loose one to a stoat,, in fact we almost lost 3, and we're lucky to find the other two,,, one of wich was dragged in to a stone wall with just his feet sticking out,,, and another, 50 yards from where it was dropped off.

 

Back at the motor we had a good old feed of all the Christmas leftovers,,, well they did I just had a salad.

It was good to be back in God's Country after our spell away. . .Great day out..the dogs were spot on all day. .and the ferts worked really well,all of them. Those hobs of Nobby's were huge..I though I had a big un till I saw them..lol.

 

1st warren we did, we were visited by a rather huge black Pig who had a rather worrying interest in the nets and ferts. . . we didnt stick around there for too long..lol.

 

The stoat that mugged our 3 rabbits was only repaying us for stealing one from one if his mates on a previous visit..We watched him chasing and catching/killing a bunny and then stole it from him..lol. . .what goes around etc etc.

 

Had some great sport yesterday..and the dogs caught a few bolters with great runs etc etc. . . my young jill that I bred from my own stock has really come into her own now and is starting to show potential as a good little grafter,hopefully like her mother.

 

Befoore anyone else asks..yes its my rather dodgy Pink Flask. . .my missis bought it me because I was always losing or bringing home the wrong silver flask,because everyone elses is always silver..lol..well thats whats she said..

 

 

 

No fairy Cakes were harmed during this expedition..

It look's like someone is chewing a wasp in the last picture.. ..cracking day out by the look of thing's..you just can't beat a bit of good company for a day's ferreting.. ..

P.s Nobby how come the misses let you loose in the disco..i thought you where jimny man myself..

It was good to be out ferreting again been a long time since i have been out my shifts at work mean i can't get out much .I enjoyed the day dogs &ferrets worked well and had a canny day with good lads .Them two big hobs are off Ian b lol had them a few years i thought i would give them a run out they are bolt or die merchants .I had to beg our lass for the motor millet as me jimnys not well lol vibrating like feck at 50 i hope i can get another day out before i gan back to work. Them pie's and cake was very nice .

Nobby the two hob's Ian has a lethal..if they don't bolt they sure as hell will die.. ..if your's have taken after his..buy a good spade..

Good to see you lads out again, its amazing how quick a stoat will get your bag away, they will even be back in minutes when you have chased them off the cheeky little buggers. Sounds like some digging is on the cards with those hobs, at least you only dig one hole with the big fellers.
