Labrador with broken pelvis

Hi,

 

I have a 5 month old Lab pup and he managed to slip his lead a couple of weeks ago and got hit by a car, his pelvis was quite badly broken and he needed major surjery to re-build it, his hip also needed re aligned, he has come through the op ok but i was wondering if anyone has had anything like this happen before and if so, did the dog make a full recovery or was there problems with running, jumping etc?

Different injury but my Grandads brothers dog fell of a pile of Haybails and broke his shoulder. He was the runt of the litter as well and turned out to be a cracking big lab and a brillaint game finder...

Have you spoke to the vet about your worry's?. i think with such a young dog it should come good as the bones will still be growing

mates border same injury and did it the same way to hes now 100% no problems at all . when i first saw it after the injury with pins and wired up i thought the worst for the pup but fine now

thanks guys, he has been determined to keep going, typical pup, wont sit on his are s for 2 minutes so i have been putting him in his cage to try and contain him and keep him calm

I would of been more worried if a bitch shattered her pelvis for giving birth etc it might mean getting her dressed but once a dogs mended it shouldn't cause any problems
