Squirrel_Basher 17,100
I recently bought a t3 from a local gunshop ,got it home and put the strap and scope on it from my .222 with a veiw to get out and zero it .Its fitted with a t8 silencer so weighs a bit .Put the strap onto my shoulder to see just how heavy it is and the front stud pulled out the rifle ,dropping everything on the floor.A look at it revealed that I could push the fecker in and out by hand .The scope is dented and the front glass smashed ,basically a write-off .The neoprene sleeve on the silencer saved the barrel and action from damage but the scope took the full force on a tiled floor .Phoned up the gun shop and was told to bring everything in .Photo's were took and the tikka rep phoned and informed while I was there .He said there would be no problem sorting it out through their insurance IF indeed it was a faulty stock?.The whole thing was posted off to tikka /berretta ,I'm not sure which and I was to await the arrival of a new stock fitted and sent back to the gun shop .Phone-call today to say its back so in I trot to be told tikka will not honor the scope replacement and get this -They say a scope cannot be damaged in that way by a simple fall off the shoulder and that I must have done the damage myself !.The gun shop owner says its out of his hands and gives me a number for tikka complaints .Spoke to someone there and expained the situation but was passed to someone else [how unusual]. The next chap stood by their decision NOT to replace the scope as he had seen it himself and agreed that the damage was UNLIKELY to have been caused from a fall from the shoulder .They had after all he said ,replaced the stock at their own cost, cheeky c**t.A few choice words from myself and the phone was put down not to be answered again .The scope cost me £347,five years ago which back then was the cost of a good scope but its the fact that I now dont have one at all for a centre fire thats pissing me off . The chap on the phone did say that if I had fitted a harris bipod to the synthetic stock then the warranty would have been void?. Anybody thinking of purchasing a tikka should bear this in mind . BULLRUNNER 7
As everyone else has said Foxdropper, sorry to hear about your misfortune. The metal on the scope isn't that thick where its gone in the picture and with the rifle dropping say 3 foot or so from your shoulder wouldn't take much to bend it like that. Don't let it drop bud.
