The wirerd things that happen while digging

This happend last season i was some where i should,nt of been a place where its one man one dog!

the spott was a 3 holer small place.dog gave a strong mark ,nets on ,dog in ,within minutes dog was braying away.

waited a good hour no bolt, onky 1.4 on box,so block dog in!

No shovel with me,so trip back to car,got back to earth dog still in same spot.

so dropped a hole to her,to see \a nice red skin on shelf.the dog i had in was an out &out bayer most the time any way!

ANYWAY this spot was not far from the farm,next thing theres are black terrier at one of the holes.So me thinking its owner wont be far away grabbed me dog box nets and off looking behind me see this black terrier drop into the dig,and then a big commotion,hid in the trees expecting to see mr farmer,but no farmer 10 minutes had gone by , i ran back the dig.and the farmers terrier had done its job,i dig and release unless i doing a job for someone but this terrier had defo done his job for this farmer....

i remember once an old bitch of mine marking a single earth on a steep banking,anyway off with the lead and in she goes, a few seconds later i hear this bit of commotion then silence,i just got the box out my pocket when my bitch comes out covered in white feathers,she turns an goes back in to return with an egg in her mouth, drops it re/enters to get another,this she did another 8 times!i can only presume it was a shellduck liked it down there.i must say tho,they was tasty!

strangest thing that happened to me when i was out digging was that there was actually something there when i dug to the dog ;-)

something similar happen to us bout 6 yrs ago we were checkin sets when theterrier went to ground on a river bank when we broke in there was a duck with eggs lol

must of been early spring,it was in the early eightys.

i once set 11 nets on a big place ,went to get my dog off the couplings & a fox had bolted into 1 of the nets never even entered a dog
