jimjam 0
Happy Christmas people, Having received a little bit of money for chrimbo, I am considering buying a PCP air rifle in the new year. I already have a spring air rifle, which I like for target practice but I feel a PCP will be better whilst out and about. Two that I have my eye on are the 'Webley Raider 10' and the 'Weihrauch HW 100'. If I opt for the Webley, I should be able to buy in the new year but if I opt for the HW100 then I will have to save for a couple of months as it is obviously quite a bit more money. (hopefully in time for spring) I have seen some people comment about problems with the Raider (a lot of which are cited at the fact it is manufactured abroad and they are not confident at the quality control). What are your general thoughts? Is it a good purchase? The HW100 is obviously quite dear and I would like to know whether it really is worth the extra money? Also for either the Webley or Weihrauch what are my pump options for either, and what sort of cost? I'm not really keen on having a dive bottle. If you have any other recommendations for good hunting PCP rifles then I would be grateful if you could send me the web links for info. Have a good one Quote Link to post
porkybella 284
Aa s410 craking rifle or a scorpion se or even r10 wicked rifles Quote Link to post
villaman 9,983
Hi HW 100kt, R10 with a 12 at the end of the serial no ,mfr , BSA ultra , Daystate Huntsman all fantastic guns Quote Link to post
mattmsm 4
Don't forget theoben rapids my first pcp was an aa s410 then a rapid then another rapid and soon to be a third rapid to my collection there is just something about rapids.Although expensive if you can find a new one they are bullet proof so second hand isn't a problem if not been messed with and they seem to hold value well. I would opt for a dive bottle if i were you as you have less chance of getting moisture into the gun Atb Matt Quote Link to post
jimjam 0
Cheers, the HW100KT looks pretty tasty and I'll have a look at the others when I get five. Matt, I don't mean to be dim but I am a complete novice and I have a couple of questions about dive bottles. Where can you safely store them as I am weary about having a compressed air cylinder in my house. Also what sort of cost are they and how long does one last (on average) and where and how much do they cost to refill? Quote Link to post
AR177 588
My father has a Webley Raider, now it shoots really well!.... It didn't when we first got it It's actually a really nice rifle, but we had an issue where the ports were not lined up correctly so it was only putting out about 3ft lbs!!!! And that was a brand new one.. But I think that's probably a rare one off. It was a quick fix at the gunsmiths ATB Adam Quote Link to post
Marksman 934
best thing is to try them out if possible and see which one fits and you like best Darryl Quote Link to post
mattmsm 4
Hi jimjam I keep my bottle in the porch as long as it is kept in a place with a stable temperature not too hot you should have no problems. My 7 litre cost just over £200 new they come with 5 years test so should be trouble free for that long dive centres and gunshops can fill them if you know a friendly fireman they have the kit to fill em too.cost to fill £5 or less .My 7 litre bottle lasts me a while I'm not sure how many fills as I get it topped up when I go to A and M at least once a month and the lowest it's been is 210bar from 300bar that is shooting most nights in between.I think if you intend on using the gun a lot a dive bottle must be a serious consideration especially if your gun has a large cylinder or buddy bottle Atb Matt 1 Quote Link to post

Hi We are very lucky in Dorset we have loads of places to fill them up .It cost me £2.50 from 170 to 250 bar fill. If you go a round to some of the dive shops you might be able to pick a second hand one up tested for about £90. If you want to pm your tel no and will have a chat about where to go Mitch Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Let us start at the beginning, the Webley Raider 10 is also known as the Hatsan AT44, same mechanism (ie anti double load, auto safety on), same barrels (german sourced), walnut stocks if wood on both! There have been issues qith QC in the past, but they have got a lot better recently. I had a Hatsan AT44, lovely little gun, swapped it with my wife for a Daystate she bought herself and did not like! She sold it and bought an Air Arms S200. Air Arms S200, great mini gun this. Well built but it is basically an upscaled pistol! Air Arms do a self indexing magazine conversion, used by many shooters on here, lightweight, not the greatest shot count in the world, but if you are hunting, that should not be a problem! BSA Ultra mark 1. A great gun, similar shot count to the AA S200, problem is it has a marmite loading/cocking system that is akin to batting a plane out at an Airport! Known for the probe release switch breaking and causing much merriment! Accurate though, I had one for two weeks, hated the cocking system! BSA Super 10. Regulated big bottle air rifle. Accurate, consistent, reliable (yes even those magazines people say are awful which are not, I have no problems with mine, one is secondhand and needed stripping and adjusting when I got it, I am not the worlds greatest mechanic and I managed to get it working properly so there!), they are great weapons (I know I have one). The R10 was the replacement for the Super 10, the mark one had hellish reliability problems. Many people gave up and bought an HW100 instead. The mark 2 was apparently better. HW100, oh hell! This thing is built like a Panzer tank. The Carbine (K variant) is much better balanced than the rifle version! 14 shot magazines, anti double load system, reliable as a very reliable reliable thing. Love it or hate it thumbhole stock available (I love it, I think it is pure function over form design). Quiet, very very quiet! Very very very quiet! A great buy, the mark one (or non quickfill) is easily converted to quickfill buy purchasing a quickfill cylinder and replacing the cylinder on your gun with it! Easy as, no hole cutting in stock or mechanism modifying! Hull Cartridge (the HW importers) will take your old cylinder in trade in too! Other guns to look out for, Daystate Harrier X, X2 or Huntsman Classic. Available secondhand for similar money to used HW100s, sometimes even cheaper! Just as good quality, just different to the HW! AA S400/410/510s. Never had one, but people do rave about these too! The S200 is made in the Czech republic (like Skodas), the S400/500 series are made in Britain! treecreeper 1,136
get down your local range most people will let you have a go if your thinking about buying one, be prepared to shell out if someone lets you have a go with a 100, unbelievably quiet punching through the paper is probably as loud Quote Link to post
The one 8,463
I like the air arms at our local clay ground all there air rifles are air arms which speaks for its self Quote Link to post
robwelsh 354
The new ultra se is a little hole puncher too. The mag did jam a tad, but that was with a certain pellet, all others iv tried have been good. It's also quiet once mod is put on..shot count around 40. I have an mfr. Very reliable, straight forward to fix, blisteringly accurate, and pretty quiet too, and big shot count ..both guns are really nice to shoot.. Quote Link to post
