lurchers " English shepherd dog " anyone tried them?

Yes the kelpie was a drovers dog before it was cross to a dingoe some can be sheep killers from what I have read up on them, not for me! I have been told they are very head strong hard work for lamping.

Kelpies are selectively bred, specialist, sheep herders,..they are masters of their craft,.even more so, in their country of origin...

Like most other pastoral workers, they are usually, good honest dogs,.but,..so are many Border Collies...

Cant get over these pricked ears look like they have fox blood HA HA out-crossing I Just dont like pricked on any lurchers I had a whippet-greyhound with them once, what with grass seeds and crap.

yeah £650 for original droving dog and at the end of the day they look to be a old line of Collie lurcher also there not KC doys yet!!

It looks like a lurcher which any keeper or old bill would spot from a mile away!

Times are changing take a good long look at the Old type Drovers Colie what comes to mind? Collie lurcher? or Collie?

Yes thats why I asked on here if anyone had one or had seen lurcher crossed with one!

The more you look at them and think about drovers dogs, men which were on the road for weeks at a time, this dog fitted the bill for them and must have been a very good hunter, there is only one way to find out for shore and thats to breed 1 litter of lurchers if this uk breeder with these 3 stud dogs will let use! I have sent her a email, sending a tex in a bit, I have a good bitch here just need the right dog.

not trying to be funny mate but by breeding one litter of lurchers how is that going to tell you if they are any good give the best bred dogs in the country to the wrong person and they will end up useless to average . and cannot agree that border and beardie crosses give you bad feet ,have you been around lurchers very long .

my old bitch, bred on collie x lines. never won a show. put a lot of game to bed. very cloddy, grafted hard. Barely injured, and never tired. No written pedigree. Not even a mention on Wikipedia If she had ever come in season then I could have sold her pups 3 times over.

Yes had lurchers and ferrets for years, I use to take the kids ferreting back in my late 20`s great fun,the kids and the dogs loved it, just got 2 young lurchers now and a 4 year old, but as time moves on and I now have grand children to keep happy,I dont really get the time just a bit of mooching with the dogs is all I need plus the shows are a nice day out for the family weather permitting!
