My ferret has been a bit ill over the last few weeks not been eating well at all went stick thin so brought him inside in the warm and gave him a selection of different foods that he likes he nibbled but still wasnt eating well .over the last few days it looked like he was picking up a bit eating a bit more and gaining a bit of energy untill this morning i checked on him and he had sadly died ive had him for about a year and he has never had anything like this before he has always been kept in a warm dry place and been fed and watered constantly. Does anyone have any idea of what mite have caused his death as this ferret was my pride and joy and a very good worker and would hate this to happen again to any other ferret i have in the future thanks kev

Thanks and i will be getting another ferret and he was faken to a vet who gave me no help what so ever and just gave him anti biotics its people like joe who should be giving better advice than to not get another ferret in my eyes the ferret had a very good life and was not just sat in a cage all its life he was worked often enough and always gave good results so telling me to not get another ferret i an absolute joke!!!!

Sorry to hear that, I always get very attached to mine. Its often hard to see what is wrong on the outside. Ferrets can be prone to cancer and other hidden illnesses and some vets aren't specialised in ferrets to know exactly what to look for.

STA Rescue address above shares most of ferret illnesses. Its quite useful.
