HuntandFish 31
I bred a litter of these micro ferrets but it was not intentional. Only three survived two jills and a hob and it was touch and go to get them through the summer. Long story short, I suspect I paired my jill a good regular size with a nice white hob from a similar line, i suspect what happened was they were full brother sister from different years or perhaps hlaf brother sister. I have a a hob now from the litter and his a a great worker hes small for a hob but not a micro i bred from him and he produced 8 healthy kits to a jill i bred from a different line. I gave the other 2 jills to my froend who bred the original jill and hob he likes a small ferret and he only nets and does small places with no collar and only wants live bunnies. He worked the two and was very happy. I bred from my hob and he bred from the jills and they produced nice healthy kits. One of the litter i bred has thrown micro sized now it could be genetics or it may have been bad feeding by the fella i gave her too, now my mate who bred the original line has her and her litter sister who is the same size a the jilll i kept. I think micir ferrets have there use but i agree with previous comments that they could be too wee and get a beating with good big buck rabbits. that said the one i gave my mate are fiery and really keen hunters he is now pairing them with good sized hobs to get a more balanced size. I never breed to sell I gave away all the kits i bred to decent ferreters. Quote Link to post
