Andrew Beirne 78
Started off a bit late today bout half 10..any way we had 5 ferrets 3 polecat hobs one was this years first day out and two albinos bout in there second season...had permission on a huge chicken farm..so we got to the first field where bobby the terrier marked a hedgerow so we put in dan one of the albino hobs and there wasn't much but one bolt and the lurcher got that so we picked him up and move on and put im further up the ditch where the terrier was marking strong so we collared up the young hob and put him up as well and we heard screaming and out popped a rabbit with the older hob latched on to his balls so we dispatched him and put the ferret in the box then another scream and the young hob a huge rabbit caught by the leg right at the entrance we later weighed him 23 kg(the rabbit that is)moved on and put the two albinos down and it was bolt after bolt then at this stage we now had 20 the albinos worked the hedge brilliantly with only one dig the for the last bit of the hedge we put down the other old polecat hob and the young one and they bolted another 10 the young fella worked a treat and seemed to be getting stuck in to them rabbits for his first day out it was brilliant and the older hob was faultless as usual the as we where just about to leave there was no ferrets in the hedge and the lurcher took off and we saw what e was after a black rabbit who easily had a 300 meter head start but e nailed him just before the hedge so finished the day with 31 so was very very happy all the ferrets and dogs worked brilliantly and i was very happy with the young hob on his first day out we stayed in the same field all day... sorry for no pics brought no camera Quote Link to post
