ferret with a tick

Iv ordered a remover now just needing to now what I need to do now

 

Like people have said its a bit late now, but if you come across it again use your tick remover, they a bit like tweezers, get a good hold on the tick then turn the tweezers anti clockwise for about half a turn, then pull gently, this should remove the tick aswell as the mouth parts, then stamp all over the little muther, dirty horrible things they are, not alot bothers me but I decking hate ticks, ATB rabbitcatcher

Also would bathing it in salt water be ok? And what flea repelant do you use iv been using cat spot on but as someone has stated its not safe can someone suggest what to use sorru for all the questions ta tom

Thats OK, don`t use a flea repellant, just use frontline when they have a flea or a tick.

 

And keep asking questions, thats what the forum is for.

Frontline spray from the vets and you only need 1 or 2 sprays on some gloves and then rub it into the fur. No bath the ferret in this weather either mate. Salt water wontbdo anything now you will have to keep an eye out make sure it doesnt get infected thats all.

i have never seen tics on ferrets until i fed them a shot squirrel

make sure you clean the ferret hut properly they get in all the cracks they feed then drop off you only see them when there feeding

it took me ages to kill them all i sprayed all the huts with creosote and re homed the ferrets in new huts

I would be careful putting cat spot on, the vet put it on a mates cat once and put to much on and it killed the cat, strong stuff

Iv cleaned and bleech the hutch and housed them in a different hutch for 3days. I think she picked it up when I was out ferreting. Will she be ok to work til the wound has healed and what signs should I look out 4 in an infection? Ta tom
