Saluqihounds 150
damn, those are nice dogs mate. Nura is a beaut. Happy with her ? Yours look a bit more stocky, and well balanced than Rio's, rios look a bit more saluki ish, more suited for open land. Do you think yours are a bit more agile in the hills than there longer cousins ? don't take that the wrong way Rio, yours are also beauts, but they do look a different type, not as compact. Thanks Paid, I couldn't be happier she suits my needs better than any dog I have, she is as versatile as they come but also about as far removed from a typical UK lurcher as you could get. The area of Kazakhstan her mother was from is right on the border with Kyrgyzstan. They are hunting primarily Red Fox, Hare, Roe Deer, Badger, Wild Boar, Wolf Marmot even Ibex. The terrain is incredibly varied from vast rubble strewn steppe to steep sided rocky gorges through to wooded valleys and sedge marsh land. Clearly there has been a selection process for working in these steep sided valleys and gorges because her agility is beyond what I ever thought possible which is saying something coming from Salukis which also excel over rough terrain. Think of the ease of which Ibex traverse vertical cliff faces and you'll not be far off Nura ability in same terrain. Nura's mother actually has an interesting method of catching Cotton Tails in the US, whereby she stalks along the top of post and rail fencing pouncing onto the unsuspecting cottontails in the long grass below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ow8_KK5dMrQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kOexVAr0oQ&list=FLP9Bawl0pCtbrRFb7Dc7rRA&index=28 1 Quote Link to post
