Paul2k12 5
Hi just wounded what you lads think of the deerhound greyhound for a all rounder Quote Link to post
DazAllison 32
Just got a pup of this breeding, I've always been a saluki cross man but heard good things about this cross so thought I'd give it a shot, seem to have good brains already Quote Link to post
Taz-n-Lily 62
All the deerhound x greys I've come across have something else in there too. I believe that a straight X leaves something lacking in bone strength which can be sorted by a bit of beddy or other terrier. I'm no expert though, and happy to be corrected/learn from others on here. My deerhound x is a very smart dog for a sapling. Quote Link to post

dodger 2,765
That axle from the n.e was supposed to have been a good one..also seen a deerhound type run a fair bit years ago n he was a real good freezer filler superb alrounder no one could be sure but he looked like a deerhound grey x bedi grey, the lad was on his way home from a day out with the dogs one day n called at the servises for a brew, an old lad approached him must have saw his dogs in the motor, he said i just found a lurcher roaming about on the hard shoulder you wouldnt know anythin about it would ya, the lad said no but after takin a look at it he liked the look of it, the old boy didnt know what to do with it so the lad gave him a tenner for his trouble n took the dog off his hands which the old boy was happy about, the lad tried to put word out best he could about the dog but when nobody came forward he kept him himself n what a dog he turned out to be not bad for a tenner lol.. Hmmm; I'd have thought adding Deerhound to the Greyhound would have IMPROVED the bone ? Cheers. 4 Quote Link to post

gibbo1973 187
ive one at 2 yrs now shes was started slowly @11 months and steadily progressed till this year and she s had a far ammount of fur for her full season , shes ok as a allrounder for me but i dont go ferreting , all so depends what you class as a allrounder mate????????? as for the bone structure shes light n nimble but their line or this line was not to have a cart horse but a working sighthound diluted doxhope (her sire was boots and his aunt was ambecky from doxhope) theres a few breeders on here and lots of people use this breed , but alot keep themselves to themselves who use this x 4 Quote Link to post

Well Dan; I brought in a 1st cross Deer/Grey to do a specific job that my 23" lurcher was having a struggle with. She does the job EXACTLY as I wanted. Why didn't I go for a Lurcher x Lurcher to do the job, I hear you ask; well, it may be different where you are, but there are a lot of breeders here who will simply tell you what you want to hear !! I know someone who bought a "Line bred Deer/Grey x", and when it only made 24", they went back to the breeder, who told them; "Oh, I forgot ! There is also Collie in the line" !! Getting a 1st x, you at least have a good idea what they will turn out like !! And if they are doing the job they were bred and brought in for, that will do for me !! Cheers. 1 Quote Link to post
Sirius 1,391
Deerhound, greyhound and collie in the mix will make a nice Lurcher. If they didn't often throw big I would have one. Quote Link to post
