Floyd17586 454
Unfortunately any photos i had are gone giro mate.he done all his work daytime aswell all single handed Quote Link to post
jasher 55
All this hares aint a challenge/are easy for a dog on the lamp is bollocks, I aint debating the fact that daytime could be more of a challenge to a dog. But the way some talk you'd think hares forget how to run at night, same with all game you'd get some that seemed suicidal .....but there were also plenty that didn't make it easy on a dog 2 Quote Link to post

ireg1985 5
lamping hares WAS good sport and a test for any dog Quote Link to post
baw 4,360
Jasher, they are easier on the lamp mate. I've seen average dogs look good on the lamp. Not saying you don't get hard runs on the lamp cos you do. Same goes for white hares, I've seen white hares straight line a dog on burnt heather but most are easier than brown hares. 1 Quote Link to post
Giro 2,648
Shame floyd sounded a decent animal.. Did you ever match him?? As for ones mans sporting morals to be questioned its laughable... Daytime dog men belive hares are just for them and any means of dispatch is outragous.. Lampers are the same they dont bleat on as much. Thing is these lads aint waiting to Dec and Jan to run hares they run them from sep on wards and more daytime boys will be out after the first cut in the summer.. I have seen sporting men through the day and night. Also seen what some class as un sporting but most would just think thats standard behaviour. Its daft to compare the two.. Daytime lads watch to see a course, Lampers want to fill a bag.. 5 hares for a lamper would be a bad night, wear on the other hand daytime it would be amazing !!! Who gives a f**k you could chase them down bare back on a unicorn with and shoot them with silver bullets for all I care.. I would be more intrested in the way people conduct themselfs rather than how much law a hare gets.. Respecting land and landowners not threating to burn down peoples barns because they have been caught with there hand in the sweetie jar and this rip arsing around feilds because they are scared to get caught walking. wheres the sport in that ?? Team sport ?? Because these hard men dont walk out alone Night or day by dog or bullet hares will be at the mercy of the man hold the slip or pulling the trigger.. Its them who decides whats right and wrong. Folk wont agree, folk have completly different standards but has long as they aint hurting anyone else whats the big problem ??? Folk wont agree, folk have completly different standards but has long as they aint hurting anyone else whats the big problem ??? i bred him with my uncle saluki x bitch but my pup got stolen back home.i was devastated tbh only two pups out of liter a dog and a bitch my uncle kept bitch and i took dog as he looked identical to champ.he was stolen at 15months and was starting to run well.my uncles bitch turned out a vgood dog by any mans standards but he never got a litter off her as he tryed twice and she never took.so i dont even have his breeding nor will i ever again.as we never knew the line of champs parents only that they were good alrounders. And that was my point, I was making the point that the way some talk whenever the topic of lamping hares is mentioned you'd think that every hare that was lamped was taken with ease which wasn't the case. baw 4,360
Get your point moo and jasher. Yes circumstances come into it. You do get hard hares on the lamp, maybe been lamped before, who knows. But as a rule? Just like white hares, they are generally easier. 1 Quote Link to post
Phil Lloyd 10,738
Never used a daytime hare killer... Two reasons really,..firstly,..I kept getting pulled,...and secondly,..the fecking, rip roaring flint.... However, when I was lamping and freelancing, full time,..a hare was there to be killed..end of... I've taken plenty in the snares, the night nets and also shot the feck out of them, with my old .22 rook rifle, and of course,..dazzled em.. A rabbit was always a quid a carcase,.for fecking decades,..but a hare, fetched far more,.so they were a bonus.. Down here, the hares are shot in their hundreds, by Johnny Foreigner ,..them wealthy boys absolutely fecking love it... I've sat in the hedges and watched them knocking the hares over, with consummate ease,... I used to ambush hares in the smaller paddocks, where they had to go through the gaps in the hedges, or head for the field gates, where I would be standing, waiting with my lamp.. Locally, my best night on the hares was eleven...and they weighed in, reet nicely...£££ Like a lot of guys, I kinda went through a 'save the hare' religious phase, and joined in with purest views of the coursing crowd,.but nowadays,..if I get a chance to kill some and sell them,..I always do... iceman001979 1,316
l have killed lots the hare at night hares are fair game to the lamping man but to see that animal turn a dog inside out during the day makes you think twice about lamping them its just a waste off a good animal the way l see it.Come dec and jan it takes a good dog to stop one and there a plesure to watch 1 Quote Link to post
baw 4,360
I can safely say I've never shot a hare and never will. It's a waste to me, utter waste. A hare should be given fair law, in season and daylight. Anything else isn't form. I truly struggle to understand how any dog man can condone shooting hares nevermind shooting them. FUJI 17,327
Nice one Chalky..some on here are siding on Anti's haha..kill the fuckers and cash em in...money must be aplenty to you guys? Between £3.00 and £5.50 each back in the 's and 90's..they were all getting a lift home in the motor lying horizontal...yes it was great to watch a daytime course but then again emptying the freezers and taking 300+ at a time to the game dealers to cash them in and get the wonga was far better lol 1 Quote Link to post
