Can't tell for sure but it looks like the rifle has a case catcher fitted so shes not, if it just has a case deflector fited is not a massive job to fit one

looked like a couple of empty rounds burnt her arm,as the case came back,top lass can not fault her for having a go,she looked elated at the end,

i was taking the pi$£ about the brass lads. a few quids worth of bass is nothing compared to the cost of running a chopper and the whole experience looks worth the money spent.

i was hoping some of you might have picked up on the ethics of the methods used.

Fitted to stop the cases hitting the rotor I'd guess.

 

The whole thing looks dodgy to me, I thought it was normal to have the gun restrained to avoid actually shooting out the rotor

I found it hard enough shooting rabbits with a shotgun from the back of a pickup when I had a go, that looks a lot harder!

the real reason i put this thread up.

 

it came across to me as if she needed lots of shots to kill one boar. that she put in a good effort but the whole setup seems a big challenge to get clean kills from a helicopter??

 

surly the people who run these heli shoots know alot of hits will not be clean and always kill with the first shot or second. many needing one or more follow up shots resulting in animal suffering (other companies doing this shoot at say 20 hogs in one field on full auto)

 

personally when i have wounded animals with my first shot it has been accidental and i try to change or learn from my mistakes as to not cause suffering the next time i hunt to reduce any suffering. most of my hunting is clean and swift but sometimes i make mistakes as do we all. I take pride that the animal is dispatched swiftly without pain.

 

it seems to me that these crews and clients will know that its almost impossible to always kill cleanly from a fast moving chopper (shooting at fast moving targets) and are totally disregarding animal welfare for thrill seeking adrenaline rush mass pest control. Yes to me it looks like an amazing buzz and a part of me would love to have a crack at it.

 

but another part of me thinks that animal welfare has been thrown out the window so to speak to save crops or make money.

 

once an animal is wounded it takes a little while for a chopper to spin round for a follow up shot and it does not look like these crews always do this when in pursuit of multiple targets in one crop (other crews doing this).

 

i though hunting/land management/pest control was all about protecting shooting by being responsible showing the masses that we offer one of the most human forms of management available?

 

don't we owe it to our quarry and ourselves to swiftly and cleanly dispatch the living animals we shoot and take every opportunity to minimise suffering demonstrating both skill AND humanity at the same time to all those would be antis that do not understand shooting and its value?

 

just my take on it for what its worth.
