donnyc 1,203 Posted December 19, 2012 Report Share Posted December 19, 2012 Well just killed two of my batch of turkeys quite pleased really free ranged plucked and hanging they go a tad over 17LBS..Two more to do for xmas and a few more in a month..Hatched these begining of september ..Blue slate hens x bronze stag..Next lot I hatch will be pure Blue slate .And some pure Norolk...Started them on crumb then grower mixed with wheat and maize free ranged in the old orchard ..Hope they are tasty 2 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
whippet 99 2,613 Posted December 19, 2012 Report Share Posted December 19, 2012 fair play i use to do a few but one year i took them to auction and lost out big time ...............some were going for a pound a pound.................. never bothered again i just go there and buy them cheap...................wasnt wworth my time................ one or two caught black head aswell if i was to do it again i would only sell private as its a good little earner if you can get the custom....... nothing better than eating your own ............i hope you enjoy your fresh turk Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Dont say that, I treated mine for that a few month back, I dont know if it was that for sure, but I thought better to be safe.... Did the turkey show any symptoms prior to culling? desertdog 149 Posted December 22, 2012 Report Share Posted December 22, 2012 they made more on tuesday at melton, cockerels making good price, i got 2 bronze there and paid 52 pound, 14,1/2 pounders, went to st,neots yesterday and got an 18lb for £17.00,they will sell the rest in bedford today, the big turkeys made nothing, less than 80p a lb, good for the buyers, not so good for the producer, pheasant 80p a brace, partridge, 90p brace, filled me van up, merry christmas, Quote Link to post Share on other sites
