Recommended Posts

Hey, thought id ask and see if anyone had any solutions on this as im sure its happened to most of us...

My 4year old patt bitch & my 4month old patt bitch keep fighting when im not around, whether it be kennels or in the house. this is a problem as i dont want the pup found dead one day, although she does give it back!

any ideas welcome

Your pup should be socialized if it's going to be expected to work around other dogs. It will most likely only get worse now because of this unless you take action. There are ways of fixing the problem. But if the pup is always going to be worked solo, or tied out while another dog works seperating them might solve the problem. JM2c

i dont think it will work again.

mostly when they realy started fighting and you dont showed them that it is not eccepted they will go on for ever.

maybe they stop for a while but i´m sure they will start again and again.

so you NEVER can trust them again.

seperate them and dont trust them also not when it works for weeks or month because oneday you are to late!

keep on digging

Agree on all above. Separate. At best bitch-male is ok and even that is not 100%. (I've "Iearned" that some fights more likely to happen if bitch is notably older than male in same box/pen. Maybe older "hags" get irritated by the younger males. Older males just think "that" and so the living is easier, somewhat). Imagined I get this pair (GJT-bitch 6y & GJT-male 1,5y) to work together on bigger/wider caves/holes. But unfortunately the male is way too dominant/possessive of the situation that they start fighting.

So: Separate. Get boxes/dog-crates if not possible for separate pens.

Kenneling together is one thing. Expecting dogs not to act like idiots when your not looking is another. Every dog comes complete with a handle on the scruff of it's neck. This can come in real handy when trying to convince two dogs that they don't even want to look at eachother. Tritronics Trashbreaker works wonders too. Dogs that are fighting aren't hunting... and dogs that are hunting aren't fighting. Too each his own. I won't fault a man for doing what works best for him. But an occasional outburst is one thing. Out of control dogs are another IMO.
