inan 841
Had a quik wander last night round the fields by my house for some ferret food, and came across this poor fecker hanging by his leg,, one of those occasions when they have missed timed there jump,, I had a quik look and there were 3 strands of wire ,,, and could I feck get it off,,now I know I should have finished it off,,, but I just couldn't help feeling sorry for it,,, and to be honest I was sure its leg wasn't broken. So cos I was only 200 yard from my house I nipped home for some wire cutters, Soi sniped the wire and released it, I know I'm a soft c**t , but it didn't seem a fair way for the poor fecker to die, a shot from a rifle, from a hunter yes,, a lurcher yes, or terrier men on a dig yes,,, but not like that , or being run over. Well he fecked off sharp,, although he was hobbling , I just hope it wasn't more serriouse , like ligament damage,, or I. Proberbly did the wrong thing. I think your instincts were spot onTomo .Time and a place etc. I was out with a couple of my dogs some years ago, we were on a country lane, so dogs were leashed up,I found a fox who had been hit by a car, both back legs smashed. I tied the dogs up some way off, and despatched it with a length of iron bar I found. If it had been flushed from cover, and was ok I would have slipped the dogs on it, but it didn't seem right at the time. A quick blow to the skull put it out of its misery Edited December 20, 2012 by inan 3 Quote Link to post
micky 3,325
I would have done the same thing, wonder if the fox will ?.Years ago I was out lamping and had a dog do it ,the barbs of the top strand went into the top of the dogs foot and made a real mess of it,after that I always tried to stop any dog I owned from jumping at night. Ive had one or two problems when others have entwined and twisted barbed wire strands together to leave a gap in the middle . I've had two dogs try and go through the gap,one just skinned his back, but the other ripped his backlegs and his sheath on the lower strand.if people must do this why cant they put the fence back as it was when they found it? beast 1,884
you done the right thing there tomo. i found one in the same situation a few years ago and it was proper fecked, dislocated at the hip and just barely alive. had no tools or anything to stop its suffering so i walked to the only civilisation nearby which was, yep you guessed it church. asked an old woman tending a grave if there was any shovels or rakes or anything i could borrow and she got all suspicious and thought i was gonna nick them so i told her why i wanted them and she threatened to call the police cos i wnated to kill animals! wonder why you bother sometimes! i ended up whacking the poor creature about ten times with a lump of rock i scraped out of the soil, pretty barbaric and i'm glad nobody took a film of that for the animal rights nutters!!! 1 Quote Link to post
