Gaz_1989 9,539
My first lurcher was raw fed so nothing in the form of treats was really a treat to him. Offering him a dry bonio or a bit of cooked chicken was like offering him a piece of shit compared to his chicken mince and veg he had for breakfast. Cooked liver worked a treat though, must be something about it they love. Cooked heart aswell. I used to boil it and then cut into small pieces and keep in my pocket. I think i ate more of it than the dog though Quote Link to post

mushroom 13,199
Bonding is important but also so is consistancy. Example. My dog has near perfect recall EXCEPT when in the local dog park if one of his friends is there and he is playing I have to give the stay command, coz the wee barsteward will not come back. Same goes when it is him and the mrs and they really do have a fantatsic bond. Now if there is a dog there that he doesn't know then he'll sniff and recall straight away but because I have consistantly told the wee prick to stay before going to him he only responds to that when his mates are about. Verdict; my consistant fuuck up But seriously rugby tackling the dog and not feeding it?? I could understand if he was about to be fed and the fec jumped up at you or whatever and you made him/her wait, but the dog is not going to associate the two together if the offence is out and about and the punishment is however long after Quote Link to post
