bracken boy 584
cant see why mayweather wouldnt have done any worse back then, he has great movement and power, the welters back then was fantastic sugar ray leonard made it work so cant see why floyd cant,
neems 2,406
He would of done just as well at the lighter weights but wouldn't of been anywhere near as dominant over light welter imo, imagine a man his size fighting Hearns.

TUFFTY 1,476
Thats true but imo i couldnt see any boxer in his weight beating him no one comes to mind anyway 30 years ago......in the Welterweight division......... Tommy Hearns.......Ray Leonard.......Roberto Duran........Wilfred Benitez.........Don Curry.......... I dont think he would of beat any of them......Curry maybe...........mouthwatering fights but im not convinced Mayweather would better them. Really gnash? In my eyes mayweather is a few fights short from being my greatest. I think mayweather would of beaten them all apart from leonard but boy that wouldve been a great fight. But this is just MY opinion TUFFTY

But this is just MY opinion TUFFTY I wouldnt swear to it mate you might be right......Leonard just always seemed to find a way to win,Duran might of been just too physical for him......Mayweather is good at creating space and Duran would of been on him like a rash and stayed on him......Hearns was just so big at the weight..............I dont know its all ifs and buts isnt it Mayweather i think is on par with any welterweight in history......For me Ray Robinson was the best fighter who ever lived at any weight,he won over 100 fights and never lost at welterweight would he of beaten Mayweather who can really say its so hard comparing the different eras sentiment tells me Robinson would of beaten him but thats all it is. *The*Field*Marshall* 674
I personally cannot envisage Mayweather competing with any of them! Would he have even gone the distance? A 6'1" lightening fast, dynamite punching Tommy Hearns! I'd be sweating if my money was on Floyd! Flattened! Leonard!?! Systematically beaten in every department. Duran! His hands of stone would have reduced Mayweather to rubble! You boys must remember the aforementioned men had each other to test themselves against. They were Proven to be the real deal. I believe Floyd has chosen his opponents Very carefully, he struggled with an ageing De La Hoya (I thought he was lucky) and Castillo. Floyd's boxing skill is up there with best of them, for sure, Leonard and Robinson included. . But skill is only one facet of many. As previously mentioned, he would done better with Don Curry (maybe) and possibly Wilfredo Benitez ? But in my view until he's been tested (which may never happen now) we will never know exactly how good the man is. . .
BIG G wheton machine 1,594
well mayweather could possibly be the greatest defensive boxer of our time i wouldnt put him in a lesser bracket than hes earned and thats in the top bracket. i think he wuda beat paquio but thats my opinion even to those who hate him hes a slippery bugger and look how poor he made hatton look
neems 2,406
The mayweather at light welter and below was very different than the welter weight version imo he doesn't seem like he's ever the stronger man these days, probably why he's so defensive. definately couldn't see him staying away from Tommy Hearns.
gonetoearth 5,144
that era was a pressure cualdron every weight from light welter to middleweight was strongly contenderd every fight was a war with skill thrown in fighters moving around the divsions maywether is great in an era of few real contenders the only true contender was pacman and think his time has passed would mayweather have been a champ in the era of hearns leonard benitez duran , it might have been just to hot for him in more ways than one
