neil82 1,080
too young to know about boxers from20-30 years ago, but my take is that generaly the boxers from the pre70`s were harder bas**rds, had a harder upbringing and were tougher men, don`t think boxers now can be compared with them, fitness nowadays is probably a lot better and nutrician(cant spell it) is better understood, combine that with more scientific approach to training and you get a different class of fighter, are they better, no idea, but i doubt many now could cope with the wars that used to occur,, think a lot now would collapse after 13 rounds never mind

darbo 4,776
watched a lot of old time fights. one sticks to mind beau jack vs ike williams. end of round 8 williams unloads repeated punches to beau jacks head. the ref eventually stops it but the man refused to go down. unbelivably tough men in that era. 1950s era. hillbilly boy 109
IMO mayweather is the best boxer I've ever seen consistently fought the beast and at many different weight classes and no one has come close to beating him and I would love to have seen him in the mix with the guys from the 70s welterweight division I think he would have defo been in the mix with them
