It`s the old saying not what you know but who you know and its not rocket sceince is it to do vermin control flip the grit trays and keep beaters in line on shoot days. And he was on a shoot this year that got 5000 birds so he knows a bit atb Jamie 1 Quote Link to post

burnie69 376
Dont wanna sound down hearted about any job because i wish you the best of luck but be it pheasant, partridge or grouse without experience not many keepers would take some one straight on as a beatkeeper and if the job is advertised in the shooting times it wont be in the 10's what apply it'll be in the 100's Quote Link to post
cammy12 176
crack on lad, you gotta start somwhere and wouldny worry too much whats for you doesny go by you, i got a start as an under keeper at 17 and new a little but not alot the best way to learn is out there on the moor, just because its a beat keeper position doesnt mean you will be at it on your own i presume you will be part of a team with a head keeper if you have an eagerness to learn and get involved counts for more somtimes than sombody that thinks they no f*****g everything. all the best with the interveiw but as already said keep things like that to your self to many jelous b*****ds aboote 2 Quote Link to post

Polkey 70
Good on you mate, don't listen to all the knocks, some people cant help but be a prick. Maybe those that of you that have so much experience could help the lad out with some positive advice to help him and give him a bit of confidence and extra knowledge instead of knocking him down. Mate Im sure you wouldn't have got an interview if you were not in with a chance of getting the job. Good luck, let us know how it goes. Quote Link to post

And let me set my own traps and that so know a fair bit about trapping and snaring ! Also the keeper that let me know about the job I was beating for him on the last estate for 2 seasons ! And worked with him for my school placement nows I a keen learner and eager to be part of a team Quote Link to post
