I can only speak as I found him,to me he was generous by giving me 2 bitches to run on but he was difficult to get on with if your opinion differed from his,he came across as a boffin type that enjoye

Was he actively involved in the Plummer Terrier breeding programme towards then end there Wirral? Or had it largely been taken on by other groups? Did he leave a map or blueprint?

The last litter of Plummer terriers he bred were born in Caithness in 1994

Read a couple of his books and found he digressed a lot but still good reads. Here was a man who could speak 6-7 different languages a doctor, school teacher, author and hunter who brought up all the old wives tales as far as hunting was concerned and all these's so called hunters and proved all them wrong, yet was hated for it. I never met the man but from what I've heard from someone who was close to him he was wacky but f...... Brilliant. Forgot to mention the creator of these fantastic red and white terrier which are IMO second to none

But how many speakers of ancient hebrew, elamite etc .does a person come accross in life to prove whether they can or not.He was an extremely intelligent man-i

Stabs,it was his breeding programme untill he became to ill with heart attacks, depression, etc, when he came out of hospital his main dogs had been taken to be looked after by people who thought they could do a better job,he struggled for control from there after as the Plummer terrier association was formed "to help him" but ended up being run by people that had no idea of terrierwork and their size, coat pattern and comformation suffered,he was banned from this after a difference of opinion, the "Plummer terrier club of great britain" was then formed to try and get the breed type back to what he had intended originally, around the same time "Welsby" who had spat his dummy out set up the "European Plummer Terrier society",that is a quick summary and the reason the terrier is in the sorry state it is workwise,3 separate clubs all breeding to different standards aimed 95% at showing, when one man "Plummer" was in charge he could of taken them to the finished article but instead there are too many cooks now producing many different versions of what look like the same terrier, but is a far cry from the type intended by his original breed statement, all 3 clubs have driven out anyone of note intent on breeding for work in their obsession for KC registration,WM

cant deny he wrote a good book i`ve read em all ... it was other things that went on with him that a lot of people could`nt be arsed with ,he ended up slagging the very people that bought his books -- his sunday diggers and most terriermen are of low intelligence comments his reporting of terrier lads to the rspca and lies he put in some of his books got peoples backs up fiction in books is one thing lies about people is another .. i dug with the man a couple of tmes and did`nt like some of his methods ...the man thought he was bigger than the myth and he bit the hand that fed him ....
