Finally blooded the HW97KT after having it for about 3 months lol

Recommended Posts

Now then guys, as you may have seen on my other recent thread i have just changed to jsb exact 4.52 and re zeroed my 97 .. so i though, seing as i never see any squirrels anymore, and cant bloody get within 100 yards of the crows and woody, that i would get the lamp out and see if i cant get a rabbit ...

got lamp and gun and off i goes, on the fairly short walk to the permission.

to cut a pretty short story short, seen 4 rabbits, one stopped about 75-80 yds away, too far. couple ran straight off and then there was one, must have been feeling brave. more like stupid- just like me... after i put the lamp onto the scope i didnt really position it properly like an idiot.

so this rabbits stopped and just sat about 40 yards away, looking like it was about to set off again at any time, ive knelt down onto one knee, raised the gun to shoulder.. found the target eventually ( 10x mag ) and it was only half bloody lit up, because i hadnt aligned the lamps beam properly!

still good enough to take a shot... ive steadyed up on the bottom of its ear and squeesed the trigger. it was raining a bit and a bit of wind had picked up since the afternoon when i had zeroed the rifle.. the pellet made a reassuring THWACK and the bunny rolled over and flipped about a couple of times then lay still.

upon examining the rabbit it would appear the slight wind had took the pellet to the side and hit in the neck. still a nice clean kill, and finally the hw97kt is blooded ;)

fair sized bunny, think it was female. anyway its in the fridge now ready to be eaten tomorrow ;)

first rabbit ive had in ages so im chuffed, would have liked another to go with it like but oh well nevermind

Bought the swivels ages ago and was going to borrow a drill and do it myself, but i knew id make a right mess of these 2 lovely lumps of wodd. so dropped them into Kirklees guns of Huddersfield at dinnertime and got him to do them for me ;)

Just on way to pick them up now :)
