The man that reared greyhound pups for me in Ireland wouldn't put them out

into the paddocks untill they were a certain age. When I asked why he told me

it was because he'd lost the odd pup to foxes in the past.

There is no doubt that a fox could kill a young pup easily if it wanted,so it isn't such a stupid question as you might think.

I remember a old terrierman who bred russels in the village when i was a nipper telling me about a fox slinking in to his kennels and taking one of his litter he had bred when he exercised his pack including the mother of the litter leaving them for a hour or two, even although i was young and gullible,i still thought he was taking the piss as his dogs were hard as nails,so i doubted his story but then he went on to explain about the pups probarly crying and whimpiring due to the mother not being there which would have attracted the attention of the fox which were cubbing at this time of the year giving them a added edge to their killing. He went on to say "he will have the b*****ds hanging on his fence (dog and the vixen ) beside his kennels before the end of the week",now i dont know if these were the culprits but true to his words a dog and a vixen were hanging beside his kennels with his litter of pups ragging their arses :laugh: these old boys were real characters when i was growing up... but sadly missed B)

was there not a story in the papers about a fox that came into a house to pull a baby out of its crib (i think there was a thread on it here)... if this is true then i'm sure the f****r would nab a pup if he got the chance!!
