lost permission due to poachers

just had a call from my permission telling me terrier lads after badgers were caught by police last night on my permission and now farmer doesnt want anyone at all hunting on there. i have only ever shot bunnies on there and never had any upset with him he just said he wants no one on. im gutted as it was my only shoot do know what to do now. might have to pack it all in

I would go round and see him and just explain that you've shot on the ground for so many years and never had any problems and you would love to carry on as it was your only permission and that it would be a shame to lose it over poachers. See what happens mate

Not really fair, but typical blanket punishment...

 

I wouldn't press it too hard. As I did when I temporarily lost a permission due to horses being spooked by what turned out to be a helicopter, call/text/visit to say you'll respect his wishes, and possibly plant the seed somehow that having you visiting regularly and being his eyes and ears could in fact help prevent a recurrence far more effectively...

 

Failing that, either knock doors for more permission or, as you say, sell up if its not that big a deal for you would be my two cents pal.

Dont pack it all in, just see it as one of lifes many hurdles. Dust yourself down and get out there to find somewhere new. Might end up better off than before!

You canny just pack in like that.. Might make you look further a feild but hey it could be worth it..

Its a sad fact that people in the same game f**k it for the rest of us................................

worked the other way round for us a few year back lads shooting at night lost us our permission for terrierwork ...we did`nt give up on it pop round and see him bottle of whisky christmas card -- things get said in the heat of things he might just change his mind set yourself some rules and explain to him the way your gonna do things dont just give up on it ffs ... Sorry to hear about that,but do stay in touch with the land owner he might have a change of heart and if not ask if he would be good enought to give you a refrence for the service you provided over the years,as that can have a great influence on future permission if you have refrences.

Sorry to hear about your permission being revoked.I had the same thing happened to me some 5 yrs ago, but don't give up mate get some insurance- basc or similar if you don't have it already & knock a few doors try the local golf courses show them you're responsible it worked for me!
