I wouldn't be qualified to assist with the topic, but me personally don't see the need to cross a wheaton with any working terrier, whether it be lakeland, patterdale, russell, border, y not be true to type an keep the wheatons pure an as there for one job an one job only jmo, no disrespect to the lads that have or still wrkn the wheatonxterrier fair due's to you's, i just don't see the need or the use to have one atb hg

Wheatens have been cross bred alot more than people think, this happend alot during the 70s with trial dogs so the pure wheatens may not be as pure as you think, the peds for alot of these dogs where writen by there breeders who may not have been liers but just missinformed when geting a stud dog or new stock into there yard. So the dogs around today may look like pure wheatens but there is glen, apbt, staff, ebt ect way back in the lines. So its nothing new to cross them its been done for years with strong dogs and lurchers, as far as useing them in earthdog breeding i dont see the point there are plenty of good lines bred for the job, a wheaten x earthdog would just become a hospital case.

The trial wheatens were full of bull blood(mostly staff)that is why they were, and are so game.A lot of people wont like that but it is true.

i said it before on here and was slated by people saying it didnt happen, some of the most well known wheaten men used them not because they wanted bull in the mix because these dog did the job, and they covered some very good wheaten bitchs at the time.

I myself prefare to keep my terriers small, and wouldn't bother adding bull or wheaten into them, but i have seen a fare few bull x terriers that where full of beans when it comes to stuff on the sod but where not into travelling an earth,I'm not asking about diluting wheaten blood but some lads that want harder terriers decide to add bull into their line ,more for the lads that want the harder terriers would wheaten not be the better option in some cases instead of bull
