Benn v Macelland one of the best fights I've ever seen, definitely enjoyed benn and Eubank more than Collins,

He was a brilliant boxer BUT he was shit at ferreting LOL .......

greatest boxer that ever lived to fight a man with one hand for 11 rounds and win every round the man was special,,, over to you gnash

boyo that list should be hung on the back of the toilet door mate .what a load of bollox it is , if it lists larry holmes at number 38 when he was arguably one of the all time great heavey weights and

I would say Benn and Eubank had had a few more battles than Collins by the time they had met, not just with each other, that was a strong weight when they were in they're prime... Some of those fights would've took it out of you more than age....

gnash .i did mention [bANNED TEXT] mate when you was having these same digs at joe ,hopkins nor jones would fight joe years [bANNED TEXT] they did get it on .hopkins was offered a fortune to fight joe at cardiff castle or the millenium stadium .[bANNED TEXT] 80,000 fans plus tv around the world he wouldnt do it . if you doubt any of this i can give you enzos number at the gym . he can tell you better.joe was finished with boxing [bANNED TEXT] the hopkins and jones fights the only reason he fought on was to beat these two .and beat them he did .hopkins was never washed up when joe beat him .thats why hes still at the very top now long after joes gone . i dont hear frochs camp calling hopkins out

If fights are there to be made, money, venue and timing being right......they usually get made.......im sure Calzaghes father would defend his son the same as im sure Jones father would defend his...........i dont know for fact one way or the other im just going on the assumption that top fighters usually get top names if they really want them...........and harsh as it sounds Joe Calzaghe never fought a top name........i find that a bit of a coincidence ......and they are not digs mate i wouldnt have " digs " at any pro fighter im not like that.........its just talking boxing thats all.

At the time i very much doubt Hopkins or Jones even knew what continent Cardiff castle was in,and the fact Joe only held the wbo title i can see why neither of them would see the value in going to Wales....Calzaghes dream was an unbeaten record....the likes of Jones/Hopkins dream was to win and unify different titles at different weights, make big fights and earn big money...............i think the fact people still question the achievements of Calzaghe yet speak of Jones and Hopkins in hall of fame terms speaks volumes about the direction their respective careers took Jones and Hopkins are thought of worldwide as all time great fighters Calzaghe is only thought of that way in Britain.

steve collins fighting benn eubanks at the end of there career lol collins was older

Any fighter will tell you calendar years will not show as much wear and tear as miles on the clock do...............Benn and Eubank had far more miles on the clock than Collins did when they met.

Would a younger busier but still technically far better Hopkins have beaten a younger more stationary 'boxer/puncher' style calzaghe?

How about a prime Jones jnr?

imo he'd get completely outclassed in both fights, but the Hopkins one would be very interesting, how would calzaghe with his superior handspeed and aggressive style react to being picked off with counters all night?

Fellas', by all means argue Calzaghe as possibly britains best super middle ever, but in terms of Joe Calzaghe "greatest boxer that ever lived" this thread should never have got off the ground! I stated who I think is possibly the greatest of them all (Walker Smith Jr aka Sugar Ray Robinson) and my favourite of them all (Erik Morales) there's a big difference! As previously stated in other terms, anyone arguing Joe Calzaghe to even be mentioned "with" the best ever, let alone as "The Best ever" is apparently not all that knowledgable with the noble art!

Totally agree............only a complete fool,or someone so wrapped up in hero worship could possibly put Joe Calzaghe,s name in the same sentance as Ray Robinson........and keep a straight face !!
