jasher 55
I personally wouldnt have a so called entered dog given. You might be given a trial, but i still think you run the risk of buying someone elses problems so i would always prefur a pup out of well bred working parents. I would say 200-250 quid is fair, but theres no gauruntees of a pup making the grade- no matter whats in its breeding, you pay your money and take your chance. Are you talking about buying in or given? I've been gifted entrered dogs in the past when circumstances have dictated that have kept me going and there's a few I dig to fairly regularly that I'd take in a heartbeat if the owners fancied passing them on...lol jasher thats more what i was trying to get out how much whuld you pay for a dog you have seen dug week in week out a dog you no gives 200% evry time and produces a high percentage of workers a dog you whuld take in a heart beat whats whuld you pay upto for a dog what in your eyes will totally upp your game and do good for your kennles Most of the lads I know gift pups and on occasions seasoned workers to help each other out, but to answer your question I guess it would depend on the circumstances. If circumstances dictated he couldn't keep the dog I'd take it on loan to work it knowing that when he was back on his feet the dog would go back to him, however in circumstances where someone couldn't keep it and was in the sh1t I guess I'd give whatever I could afford at that time to help him out all depends on the circumstances , that probably doesn't exactly answer your Qs though ...lol Quote Link to post
UcanRUNbutUcantHIDE 190
Dogs r priceless a real good terrier wears its heart on its chest n gets the job done but the idiots that want to sell them are always out pricing them. I think dogs bread from working dogs that you know is the safest bet but as you know it's never garunteed what the dog will do and as good dogs are harder to find sometimes you can't resist buying an older dog you know nothing about. All terrier men work differently so 1 mans sh**e can be another mans treasure if you rehome a dog the man might work dogs differently so the dog won't suit your needs. Quote Link to post

alimac 882
Not a single solitary dirty f*****g penny!!!!! Because if I'd dug to it regular enough to know it was a seasoned and true digging dog that could be worked regular it would belong to a true friend who I'd have spent hundreds of hours digging with & I'd expect it for free to a good home.. the_stig 6,614
a few years back faced with having nothing to work and losing a season and possibly his permission a mate paid a grand for 100% grafting dog turned out to be a cheap dog - he held onto his permmision the dog produced grafters and he got a few years work out of him . 1 Quote Link to post

Squirrel_Basher 17,100
The thought of working terriers and money dosnt sit well with many lads and i have to agree its not the way i do things.Spending money on a brood bitch or stud will mean you will want to recoup a bit when selling surplus and so it goes on . 1 Quote Link to post
