BS40liam 203
I had a jrt x stolen 2 years ago, and bearing in mind he wasn't a digging dog but would happily enter a earth lol, now as a pup I bought him for 250 and he served me well for a few years bushing and ratting, and I know 250 isn't a lot of money to some people but to me that dog done everthing I asked and wanted of it at the time so I think that was a fair price of a working mans money to pay for (IMO) a good working dog. But then you could get silly about it and say well a 100 percent digging dog/bitch of a decent ageyou could spend up to 500 notes, but just because a dog does everything you ask dosnt mean its worth the money....that's my take on it any way. the durham digger 127
I personally wouldnt have a so called entered dog given. You might be given a trial, but i still think you run the risk of buying someone elses problems so i would always prefur a pup out of well bred working parents. I would say 200-250 quid is fair, but theres no gauruntees of a pup making the grade- no matter whats in its breeding, you pay your money and take your chance. 2 Quote Link to post

Are you talking about buying in or given? I've been gifted entrered dogs in the past when circumstances have dictated that have kept me going and there's a few I dig to fairly regularly that I'd take in a heartbeat if the owners fancied passing them on...lol Edited December 14, 2012 by jasher Quote Link to post

Bossie 90
a good digging dog can be worth its weight in gold How much does the average patt weigh? 6-8kg? x $35k per kg means it's worth $200-300k;) Just kidding. You can't put a price on a truly good dog with a nice character once you've got one. Over here a pup from working parents dog can be had for as little as €150-300 for terriers or non pedigree working dogs, teckel/dachshund can get up to €750 a pup. Brittany/small münsterlander and other multi purpose continental spaniels from €350-800. German Drahthar and other multi purpose breeds about the same. Several breeds are very much hiped, which does reflect in the price. If you buy a dog which has been trained to work price can even double. Explaining to the misses spending over €450-500 would difficult. But that would also differ on how I/we can use the dog. Hunting/Guarding/Ski-joring/being a compaining during outings with the horse etc etc. To be ownest as a ferreting/rabbiting companion which is the only hunting activity I do, taking the legislation over here into account which does really restrict me in some areas dog-wise, almost every dog with some hunting instincts if brought up right could be of help. The misses JR-chiuahua cross even marks occupied warrens, it was given, he's a great family pet. Edited December 14, 2012 by Bossie 1 Quote Link to post
