Sirius 1,391
I have a few Brinded poles in the shed and have decided to use them for a quickset. All the nets I have made previously have been magnum poles using the grommets. I was wondering what's the best way to use the castration rings to keep the net in place? Do you just wrap is around the net and pole twice, once the nets in position? Or is there a better way? Cheers in advance Sirius Edited December 12, 2012 by Sirius Quote Link to post
bobcullen79 1,495
Put the ring on the peg, then tie your clove hitch and tighten. Then pull the band out, twist, and back over the peg, trapping your knot. Hope that makes sense. I think lifelongcumbrian done a bit of a tutorial on it.. Edited to say - This works on 10mm pegs, Ive not tried it with the 12mm magnum`s. Quote Link to post

Tyla 3,179
I've used the rings for years and they've worked lovely. I dont double them over as the stretching makes them perish but use two, one above and one below the clove hitch so they pinch the line together. Works for me anyway 1 Quote Link to post

Would work on 12mm poles, if the castration rings were a bit tight you can get black ones that are a little bigger and softer rubber. Quote Link to post
lllluke1 329
One question about the castration rings. How long do they last because they are designed to perish, that's the whole point of them? Quote Link to post
