Hordes of dogs are clingy, stressy, suffer from separation of anxiety: has nothing to do with her breeding and everything to do with the way she was reared and handled in the past. No dog is perfect.

the thing is you have never had a saluki so in reality your comments are just based on what you think not what you know!!!.

People bang on about Saluki temperament, and yes, they can be a lot harder to handle: I've had Saluki lurchers who didn't even act as though I existed until I started working them; others very timid

Lol rio, ain't that the truth. We all know guys who go through dogs like woman go through shoes. Never there fault, half them on here giving out advice

I arent one of them. This bitch will be staying with me untill the end.

Just havent got any experience with the saluki cross except the 2 that I have had.

The 1st dog I failed, 100 % my fault. However, regardless of my failings, he was a stubborn, headstrong, ignorant ba5tard.

The bitch ive got now shows the same stubborn streak that he did. Nothing to do with incorrect training, she knows full well what "in" means, down to a tee. But if she doesnt want to go in, she wont go in. Wether its the house, her kennel, her crate, the car. If she decides she aint doing something then she aint gonna do it.

Like i said, i can live with it, its not horrendous, im just trying to gauge if these are saluki traits and common of the breed or not.

The whining crying thing is my big gripe, but like has been pointed out this is probably due to her upbringing and could of happened to any breed.

Cheers

Plenty on here will give you good advice mate, me personally, I hate them with a passion lol. I just don't see the point in the breed in modern post ban times. Yes a wee bit in the blood but first cross, naaa

I think you need to face up that you brought an adult dog in with inherent faults and its not really going to get better, she sems a nicely put together dog but you've started a few threads asking advice on several issues concerning the dog. You go on about the retrieving being a problem but by you're own admision the other week you stated she's only caught 2 and a squirrel, is the retrieving a problem with a dummy or is it just game it has problems retrieving? When people are getting rid of adult dogs more often than not they have faults which the seller dosen't divulge and yours seems to be one of these.

I think you need to just to realise the bitch as faults and either work around them or bring a pup in and start from scratch.

I think your mis-understanding the reason behind my post mate.

I know shes got a few faults, but even with these faults she would show up alot of dogs in the field that have been reared from pups. Only an idiot would of got rid of her because of her "issues". Her faults are far outweighed by her positive points.

I was trying to establish if the things she has in common with my other saluki x are common to the breed or just coincidence.

I think ive got my answer though.

Baw - out of interest, what cross do you tend to run?

Cheers

Just to add, I wasnt naive when I brought in the dog, I wanted an adult dog, hadnt got the time to bring on a pup at the time, She was advertised as an "OK rabbiting dog that needs work". I wasnt expecting much more than a companion that would take the odd rabbit when out mooching. I didnt expect to be able to lamp her, but she excells at it.

In all fairness you said the other week your dog as caught 2 rabbits and a squirrel, hardly going to put some dogs to shame is it.
