porkycrook 466
Well on Friday i was summond to my permission, as the landlord wanted to speak to me, my mind started racing and I thought of earlier in the year when Si Pittaway lost one of his permissions. He started off by saying that the bloke over the road had been onto the owner of the land that is my permission, who inturn passed it on to the landlord to sort out, and he had given the problem a lot of thought. All the time i'm thinking, oh well it was good while it lasted. Then he said that he had come to a decision. I wanted to get a chance to defend myself, but he kept right on talking. For every rat i shot he was he would pay me £5, well you could of heard my jaw hit the ground. I then couldn't believe what was coming out of my mouth "no you don't have to do that, i get pleasure from being allowed to shoot your land". But i was lucky enough because he said "no, he had given the problem a lot of thought and he was going to pay me". Well if it wasn't for my bad back i would of come away from the meeting doing cartwheels lol. £5 for every rat. So you can now see why i want the "pied piper" of rat baits. I am trying smooth peanut butter mixed with chocolate spread thinned with a cooking oil, so its nice and runny. So guys have you got any better idea's. I'm being paid to shoot, pinch me just incase i'm dreaming............... 1 Quote Link to post
dymented 2,220
If peanut butter mixed with chocolate spread thinned with a cooking oil doesn't work you had better give up lol just put plenty down regular so they get used to it Quote Link to post
AR177 588
£5 per rat!! do they think they only have 1 or 2 on the permission?? That might change mate when you take them 15 or 20 tails! But make the most of it mate ATB Adam 2 Quote Link to post
porkycrook 466
Thanks Dymented at least it's nice to know that my bait is the best. As i said Adam i had to pick up my chin. I will be targeting two main areas of my permission, the main part will be around the security office (which is directly over the road from Mr Nobby) the second place although never as productive as the gatehouse will be the recycling depot. All the money raised Adam will be going towards funds to allow me to attend the meets next year with my friends (Adam thats you). I was singing everybodies (meet attendies) praises to my wife and sister the other day. Although i have only been on these sites for about a year now, people that i've met and that i now call friends on here are better friends than all the people i have worked the best part of fourty years. Friends on here ask about how i am and want me to get to meets, also i have had people offer to take me shooting with them on their permissions. True friends indeed. 1 Quote Link to post

porkycrook 466
ftm, I might take you up on your kind offer, unless somebody comes in cheaper. Over and out from Billy no mates lol. Simon, on my permission it is made up of a wood, 100 WW2 nissan huts and 6 big industrial units (2 sell slate and fire wood, 2 units are a recycling depo and 2 empty) none of the units produce food. So the permission is just as the countryside is. stig, is that linseed oil? Quote Link to post

davyt63 1,845
hi Roger nutella and cooking oil, bread crumbs, blended cat food, blended mackerel,Peanut butter.any thing that has a strong Obnoxious!! smell (Steve/Dave Graham) and any thing that is sweet! definitely not the named above! but to be fair if there is a food source on your permission, just hide up about 30yds your zero as i remember your using .22 and you will get every one which comes out! Ref payment! you can take it as a donation towards fuel, i have also looked into this to. i am sure its about £150.00 per year for insurance ?,so @ £5.00 a rat it wont be long before you get 30 rats to cover this years instalment and other years too! you will need to do a recky! and watch there movements, and there habits.once you have done this you should be ready to strike! would advise you re-zero to 15/20yds though. any more advise you have my number give me a call. PS.i will be selling my old Aldi NV monocular soon! as i have the new bresser digital one from lidl. 1 Quote Link to post
Acuspell 329
This reminds me of the policy we had at sea. P&O was the company I sailed with, as a navigation officer back in the 70s. The company policy was to pay a bounty on rats, any caught were paid for, not a great sum, but a useful top up for the crew, who were Cantonese, or Honk Kongers (as they were called in those days). They bred them in the lower hold! How much will give you me for the ones I shoot on my farm yard? Go halves (I asked first! ) Edited December 10, 2012 by Acuspell Quote Link to post
