links arent working well mate, better to post like this

What and epic run

It's called "coursing"   Basically two dogs chase a big rabbit

Forgive me for not agreeing that was a course in a million, though it was in one sense, if you are looking at it from an insane amount of determination from the dogs, but those dogs ran themselves into the ground, and I wouldn't be surprised if they never fully recovered: the darker dog was down on the ground at the end, having done most of the work. The lighter one looked to be tying up at one stage, but came back into the course later, though it was pretty much following on towards the end.

Yes, I know the ground was like concrete, which didn't help the dogs any when turning, but they run too much like Greyhounds for my personal liking, over shooting by miles and not reading the hare in the same way that a good Saluki or Saluki lurcher would have done.

Yes, the hare was incredible: hats off to it. I would love to see a really good Saluki or Saluki type running those hares: to see what it could make of them. Has anyone got any footage of Saluki types running in Spain?

The most incredible thing about galgos are their greedines, they can get injured but still running... In that epic course, white get disqualified because he stop, is a very hard race and at the end they were near collapse, but, normally they just lie in the floor for a few minutes, trainer give them some water/electrolytes/sugar and ready to run again after a while...

I took that photo last year at copa del rey, that galgo get injured at previous run and continued coursing, you see how are his feets... He run with heart first race of the round that day,i think he win or it was nea draw, then, relax for 40min, he get cold, injuries hurting, he run the second race, not at his best, but he dont stoped, he want the hare... Finally he lost but he coursed very very good...

Official poster... I can tell you,it will be in middle of the field, they will mount a big awning, there will be some shops there, an enormous screen where they will put images of the roads and maybe they on live(not sure), a place where you can buy beer, surely some food also, and loooot of people, last year i remember people at parking making bbq waiting the fog go up hehehe...

Medina Del Campo is not really far from madrid, most of the travel by highway, if you are planning to go, i recommend you not go to the final, because you will see less dogs and less coursing, i think its better go to semifinals or quarter finals, because you can see more races

Great thread this, thanks for putting it up. I could think of worse places to go in January. Does anyone know if they run anything with Saluki blood over there. Obviously no in this competition but just in general.
