I know why less people are giving to charity these days and it's not down to the economic climate. In the past, adverts used to say "Give what you can" and you would make a donation if you wanted to. Now they tell you how much to give - e.g £3 a month by direct debit. I might want to give £20 say, to whatever charity, but I don't want to, or can't afford to give them £36 a year, so give them nothing instead. Sad but true.

Do you lot have "chuggers" over there? "Charity muggers", nauseatingly happy in your face types who accost you on the street. "HI! Can I have a minute!" while they step into your path or follow you down the street, no you f*****g may not.

 

Or, my other charity related rant, junk mail! Donate to certain charities and they'll flood you with crap. As if we all suffer from memory loss and think they magically go POP! and vanish after we give.

 

If I want to, and can afford to give I will, browbeating will only result in generous donations of profanity, which is in ample supply

Way too many charities these days and also take a look who's on the board of directors on half of em...ex politicians and the like. Hardly charity when you're on 200k a year is it.

Speaking off charities , we've had some terrible floods recently , people's homes destroyed , lives lost , just wondering how much Pakistan , India ect have Donated to OUR PEOPLE'S Bad Times , cause surely they must off after what when they have a Disaster our country does for them !!

Too many people milking the charities with their unrealistic salaries. PR machines that are starting to get seen for what they are by joe public.
