so much for research!

Recommended Posts

Well, I've looked around all the posts I can find, and every one adds another choice to my list instead of narrowing it down. So here we go. Should I get a springer or a pcp. Bearing in mind that my budget will probably extend to a bsa ultra. I haven't shot a gun in 20years and ill mainly be going after pigeons and rabbits. I appreciate that every reply will recommend something different and that it's a 'How long is a piece of string' type question, but as long as I can narrow my list down then it'll help.

Thanks in advance.

Hi mate if you havnt shot for years and are coming back to the sport and have a limited budget I would recommend getting a spring powered rifle and a good scope. Most rifles are bang on accurate these days so try and get some good glass to bung on it.

Plus buying a springer means you don't have the added cost of having to buy a pump or divers bottle to keep filling it.

You'll also do well to start from scratch and learn to shoot better with a springer then in the future you could sell it and buy a pcp if you find your enjoying the sport and want to carry on. You could buy a nice tx200 and some good glass and that would serve you well but if you prefer lighter rifles then a good break barrel would serve you well like a HW95K or BSA lightning maybe.

Get yourself down to a good gun shop and feel all the rifles up to see which ones best for you weight wise and size wise.

Cheers

If you want a precharged rifle I have a A A .177 Classic, S400. pre tamper absolutely unmarked. as unused for a long time. fitted with a Moderator, as brand new, no dinks, scratches, or marks anywhere, was being kept as a sleeper. if your interested give me a PM for the price. much less than a HW or BSA springer.

i had a ten year break, and decided 'ahh well..if we gunna do it''.. got a pcp.

firt couple three times at a range i dint like it! bloody thing!! then i was reminded theres no recoil, and i was probably reacting for recoil, so tried again and yes, a daignty little dab the cross on, and ping nailed.

now i cant see me going back to crudety and noise with a springer.

also, if you seriously get into it accuracy wise its hell of a lot less mither to tune it to a pellet.. or have it tuned, 5-10 mins its there.

5feet per sec shot to shot is fairly good standard model.. anything below 3 is starting to get really good, like 1500 quids and you've got a tuned stayer at 1fps shot shor concistace..hot!!

30-40 yarding..fff 10 fps will do it.
