passing it on to the kids

Recommended Posts

well today i had a range day , but not the normal sort of range day today i was passing my military knowledge onto the future young guns. these kid are between 12 and 16 years old most are looking at becoming member of our armed forces..

the choice of weapon today was the l98a2 fitted with the heckler and koch conversion . 17 kids turned up and after a bit of training all passed their shooting test ....5 even managed 1" grouping( not bad for their 1st time shoooting ) a good day was had by all wor lass made two big pans of homemade soup which was very quickly polished off for lunch... when i got home i was knackered but even if i got through to just 1 kid the importance of safe handling on any weapon then im a happy chap...

and here's the young guns lol

Aww that's marvelous mate.

That is fantastic to have done for these youngsters Gary. You'll never know the good you've done but they will never forget someone who, instead of shouting at them, telling them what they will never be, doing them down, spent just a day of his time encouraging, helping, advising, give them a bit of praise when the do well, an encouraging correction when they struggle and don't give up.

Maybe not all will make soldiers. But all of them will never forget the kind big fella who taught them proper shooting!

Well done mate. Big respect to you.

concidering history and the general 'climates' about the world, it seems really really stupid to be banning the art of shooting, best time to get any hi levals of skill is in the youngsters.. they pick up faster learn it better.

come 'the day' a bunch of office clark arm chair hero's go to meet the defence of the realm..wet them selves at the noise and cant hit the side of a barn for weeks..very sad!

good stuff mate..

Great work mate, If more of our youngsters got into the cadets I think it would solve alot of our problems with the young people.

They learn respect, a sense of being valued as part of a team. I do feel the main problem we have is the young people have no boundries and just dont know how to behave in an acceptable manor.

I know its not realistic, but something must be done.

A friend of the wifes was in a chippy recently, young lad walks in, hood up, pushes to the front, she says to him, excusme me lad there is a queue here, he turn and butts her in the face, blood everywhere, husband sees this and runs in ( waiting in car outside ) grabs the lad and tells the owner to call the police. Police come and the husband was arrested for assulting the young lad, turns out he was 14, he got community service and lad gets off scott free??????

How are we supposed to live like that?

Great work festa.

Gary, I have the up-most respect for you and people like you that are only too willing to give up their own valuable time to help others, I have always said it's easy to make a financial contribution to help (and always appreciated) but to give up you time is a whole different matter. I take my cap off to your Sir.

Thank you.......

ATVB, Andy
